Ninety Six Primary School is committed to developing the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by providing engaging and meaningful learning opportunities that foster critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity across all content areas. Through ongoing professional learning, instructional collaboration, and reflective practices, teachers and staff continuously strengthen their understanding of these world-class skills and intentionally embed them into daily instruction. Our goal is to empower students to become lifelong learners who are prepared to contribute positively to their communities and an ever-changing world.
Our school continues to implement a schoolwide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework that emphasizes teaching, modeling, and reinforcing positive behaviors. Through the use of our behavior expectations matrix, consistent schoolwide practices, and visual supports throughout the building, students are provided with clear expectations for success. Positive behaviors are recognized through initiatives such as Positive Office Referrals, Terrific Kids, classroom celebrations, and schoolwide incentives. These efforts help foster a safe, supportive learning environment while encouraging students to develop responsibility, respect, and citizenship skills that will serve them throughout their lives.
Within the core curriculum, students engage in rigorous learning experiences that promote choice, inquiry, and active participation. Reading and writing instruction incorporates opportunities for students to explore diverse texts and topics while developing strong literacy skills. Through whole-group, small-group, and collaborative learning experiences, students learn to communicate effectively, work respectfully with others, and think critically about complex tasks. Students regularly listen, read, write, speak, research, and present their learning using both traditional and digital formats. These experiences encourage creativity, perseverance, problem-solving, and innovation while strengthening communication and collaboration skills.
Students also participate in weekly STREAM (Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) experiences that provide opportunities to explore real-world problems through hands-on learning. During STREAM activities, students engage in inquiry, design challenges, and collaborative projects that encourage experimentation, critical thinking, and innovation. These experiences foster creativity while allowing students to practice teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills in meaningful ways.
Technology integration remains an important component of student learning. All students have access to district-issued Chromebooks, which are utilized regularly throughout the instructional day. Through the purposeful use of technology, students develop digital literacy, communication, research, and problem-solving skills that support both academic achievement and future readiness.
Ninety Six Primary School remains focused on preparing students for success by intentionally developing the world-class skills outlined in the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate. By integrating creativity and innovation, critical thinking and problem-solving, collaboration and teamwork, communication, information, media and technology skills, and the ability to learn independently, we strive to ensure that every student reaches their full potential and becomes a productive citizen in today's global society.
Family and community engagement remain essential components of the educational experience at Ninety Six Primary School. We value the strong partnerships between our school, families, and community stakeholders and recognize the important role these relationships play in student success. Throughout the year, families are provided opportunities to participate in school events, academic activities, and communication efforts that support student learning and growth. Community partnerships enhance educational experiences by providing resources, support, and real-world connections that enrich the curriculum. By working together, we create a collaborative learning environment that strengthens student achievement, promotes positive relationships, and supports the development of the whole child.
