At Midland Park Primary, we believe that every child has the power to grow into a confident, capable, and kind learner. That’s why our mission is rooted in a powerful idea: every student deserves the chance to develop world-class skills and strong character—just like the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate encourages.
Our school is more than just a building—it's a safe, caring place where students feel supported both in their learning and in their hearts. We know that when children feel safe and loved, they learn best.
Using the South Carolina College and Career Readiness Standards, we help students become critical thinkers, creative problem solvers, and curious learners. We value open and honest communication, so students feel confident sharing their thoughts and ideas. In everything we do, we work to spark a love of learning that lasts a lifetime.
To help us reach this goal, we focus on three big priorities; raising student achievement including building strong literacy skills, creating a safe and positive learning environment, and strengthening communication within our school community.
We work hard every day to help students grow not only academically, but also socially and emotionally. This work takes a team—and our team includes teachers, staff, families, and community members. Everyone plays a part.
Our teachers are always learning, too! Through regular training in reading, math, and social-emotional learning, they stay up-to-date with the best ways to teach and support every child. We use this knowledge to carefully monitor student progress and offer just the right help—whether a student needs a little extra practice or a bigger challenge.
Teamwork is essential at Midland Park. Teachers, specialists, and support staff meet regularly in professional learning communities and planning sessions. These meetings allow us to look at student data from tools like FastBridge, myIGDIs, iReady, and BESS to make thoughtful decisions about what students need next. Our Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) ensures that every child gets the academic and emotional support they need.
We also know that students thrive when schools and families work together. That’s why we invite families to join us through open houses, parent workshops, literacy nights, and more. We make sure to communicate in ways that work best for each family—whether that’s through Class Dojo, our school website, phone calls, or Facebook. We utilize certified translators to ensure that families receive communication in their home language.
Thanks to this shared effort, Midland Park Primary has earned some exciting honors! In 2022–2023, we were accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), and in 2023–2024, we earned accreditation from Cognia. These recognitions show that our school is committed to excellence.
As we look ahead, we are excited to keep growing. At Midland Park Primary, we live our values every day—and we always remember to SWIM by Showing respect, Working hard, Including others, and Moving safely. Together, we are building a future where every student can succeed.
