At Beech Springs Middle School, we are dedicated to equipping all students with the world-class knowledge, skills, and character outlined in the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate. By delivering rigorous instruction aligned with South Carolina's academic standards in English/Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies, our curriculum fosters critical thinking, problem-solving, inquiry, innovation, collaboration, and technological fluency.
Our educators continually refine their practice through targeted professional development focused on meeting the diverse needs of our learners. A systematic implementation of AVID strategies continues to strengthen college and career readiness across all grade levels. In addition, our teachers engage in professional learning cohorts ensuring instructional excellence and student engagement.
Beech Springs Middle School offers a wide range of performing arts opportunities including Band, Orchestra, Choir, Art, and Drama. Our talented student musicians have earned Superior and Excellent ratings at Solo and Ensemble events, and have been recognized at the SCBDA All-State and Region Band levels. Meanwhile, student visual art is proudly showcased at the District Five Fine Arts Center during the school year.
We believe in nurturing student leadership and involvement beyond the classroom. Students can participate in a variety of extracurricular programs such as athletic teams, Student Council, Beta Club, Yearbook Club, Esports, Girls on the Run, and a variety of FLEX Clubs. Leadership is embedded in the classroom culture, with teachers encouraging students to take initiative and responsibility through meaningful roles.
Our students are also actively engaged in community service projects, giving back through efforts like supporting the Middle Tyger food pantry and the Humane Society, reinforcing a sense of compassion and civic duty.
