Rainbow Lake Middle School continues to help students develop the skills outlined in the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate through a technology-rich, safe, and personalized learning environment. Our school remains committed to innovation by integrating instruction in a one-to-one environment using Chromebooks, differentiation, guided instruction, Response to Intervention (RtI), scaffolding, and the gradual release of responsibility model. These approaches foster critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and teamwork.
Emphasizing both world-class skills and world-class knowledge, Rainbow Lake utilizes the South Carolina College and Career Ready Standards to prepare students with 21st-century skills. For the 2024–2025 school year, our commitment to high academic expectations was reflected in the recognition of 13 students as South Carolina Junior Scholars for their exceptional PSAT performance. Six students were accepted into the Spartanburg County Early College Program, and six students were admitted to the Scholars Academy at the University of South Carolina Upstate, where they will begin earning college credit while in high school. In addition, 12 students earned a perfect score of 100 on the Algebra 1 End-of-Course (EOC) exam, and 83% of students who took the course achieved an A or B.
Our students are developing essential skills in areas such as critical thinking, research, problem-solving, and communication, alongside vital life and career characteristics. These are evident in both classroom instruction and our wide range of extracurricular opportunities. Rainbow Lake Middle School proudly supports positive development through student participation in clubs such as BETA Club, Student Council, FCA, Crochet Club, B.O.Y.S. Club, and multiple athletic programs. Many of these groups engaged in philanthropic efforts throughout the year, including food drives, clothing donations, fundraising, and providing holiday support to families in need. These experiences strengthen our students’ interpersonal skills, sense of service, perseverance, and global awareness.
Our Fine Arts programs continue to thrive and provide students with skills in life and career characteristics such as integrity, self-direction, perseverance, and work ethic. This is reflected through the success of our performing programs. Four students were selected to the SC Region Six Honor Band. The RLM Orchestra and Band received a rating of “Superior” for the S.C. Concert Performance Assessment. One student was selected for the S.C. Honor Choir; the first time this has ever happened at our school.
At Rainbow Lake Middle School, our mission remains clear: to prepare students for tomorrow’s world by offering effective and innovative practices in a safe and supportive environment. We are grateful for the continued support of our families and community as we work together to ensure every student achieves success.
