Campobello Gramling School continues to assist all students in developing the World Class Knowledge and Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by focusing on the needs of the whole child. We have made tremendous strides in collaborative learning and arts integration while continuing to create accelerated, individualized learning plans for all students. Our MTSS framework encourages students to CARE for others, GIVE their best, and SERVE the school. While we are extremely proud of our past accomplishments, we realize that excellence must be pursued each and every day.
Campobello Gramling School completed the 2024-2025 school year with many accomplishments. Academically, ten CGS students were recognized as South Carolina Junior Scholars. For our graduating eighth grade class, two students were accepted into the USC Upstate Scholars Academy.
The academic arts classes at Campobello Gramling School continue to offer award-winning programs. The CGS Honors Chorus boasted an superior CPA rating and had three students accepted into the SC ACDA Middle School All-State Chorus, as well as six students selected for the Spartanburg Sings Middle School Honor Choir. The CGS Band received an excellent CPA rating, as well as seven superior and and three excellent ratings at solo and ensemble events. The CGS Orchestra received all superior ratings at solo and ensemble with two students receiving a superior-with-distinction rating. Our visual art students earned awards in many grades on the state and local level including two elementary students that were selected to have their artwork displayed for Youth Art Month at the Chapman Cultural Center and three students who were recognized at the Spartanburg District One Art Show. Under the leadership of our arts steering committee, CGS continues to be identified as an Arts in the Basic Curriculum School with the prestigious title of "School of Distinction".
The faculty and staff of Campobello Gramling School seek to support charitable causes and encourage our students to do the same. This year, CGS raised money for United Way of the Piedmont ($2,000) and the Children’s Cancer Partners of the Carolinas ($2,500). CGS also collected over 1,600 canned foods for local food banks, provided breakfast and gift bags to local veterans, and sponsored a new toy/blanket drive for needy families during the holiday season. This could not have been possible without the generous support of our community.
CGS athletic programs were also highly successful during the 2024-2025 school year with football, volleyball, boys/girls basketball all collectively boasting four all-conference players. Our middle school athletes also made a huge impact at the high school varsity level with two all-region and one all-state cross country runners.
Professional development remains a priority of our faculty and staff. Throughout the year, teachers participated in a variety of staff development opportunities including LETRs training, SC Competency Fellows professional development, grade-band staff development, technology and literacy training, vertical articulation, and continued implementation of the workshop model across the school. CGS teachers made considerable strides in our continued pilot of South Carolina Competency Standards in 4th through 8th grade.
As the 2025-2026 school year approaches, our faculty and staff are preparing to provide students with another year of exceptional education and opportunities. Our school theme is Adventure Awaits @ CGS, which encompasses the level of excitement and engagement that we hope to provide our school community through motivating, high-energy learning experiences. Our district theme, #RelationshipsMatter, will continue to reinforce the importance of developing and fostering positive school/community relationships.
Our staff is committed to serving every student and our school is helping all students develop the World Class Knowledge & Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate. We believe CGS is a corridor to opportunity where students are challenged, embraced, and given the tools to be college and career ready. The CGS family has created a culture that provides for a student-centered education and believes it is our responsibility to nurture individual learning styles as we prepare our students to lead productive lives now and in the future. At CGS, we believe that every child deserves a quality, student-centered education.
