At Landrum Middle School, our mission is clear: to provide every student with a quality, student-centered education that prepares them to be productive, responsible citizens. Guided by the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate, our faculty is dedicated to fostering lifelong learners who are champions of their own success.
Our students live out the Cardinal way—RED: Respect, Excellence, and Determination. They show respect for themselves and others, strive for excellence in all endeavors, and display the determination necessary to succeed.
This year, we proudly celebrated a number of outstanding accomplishments:
-
Academic Excellence: Five eighth-grade students were named Junior Scholars, a prestigious honor awarded to those who show exceptional academic potential.
-
The Arts: Our students earned Superior ratings at both the Solo and Ensemble Festival and the Carowinds Festival of Music, and proudly showcased their artwork at local community events.
-
Clubs and Competitions: The LMS Jr. Beta Club earned state-level accolades and will represent our school at the national level this summer. Our FFA chapter was honored with Bronze Chapter status and continues to grow and thrive.
-
Athletics: Our girls’ basketball team finished their season undefeated (10-0), securing the regular season championship—a testament to their hard work and teamwork. One eighth-grade girls' basketball player won Conference Player of the Year. Finally, our football team finished their season in a 3-way tie for the Division Championship.
A cornerstone of our academic approach is the WIN (What I Need) period. This 30-minute daily class provides tailored, small-group instruction in math and reading for students needing additional support. For others, WIN offers enrichment opportunities such as tutoring, independent learning, SSR, intramurals, and club involvement. This innovative model ensures every student has access to personalized learning and meaningful academic engagement.
As a proud South Carolina School to Watch, we remain committed to academic excellence, equity, and developmental responsiveness. With strong organizational structures and a dedicated faculty, we’re creating a school culture where every student has the tools and support needed to thrive.
We are incredibly proud of the progress and achievements made this year and look forward to continuing our tradition of excellence in the years to come.
