Leslie M. Stover Middle School is a proud Title I school committed to preparing every student for college and career readiness as outlined in the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate. We emphasize the development of essential life skills: positivity, respect, organization, wisdom, and lifelong learning. We want our students to leave Stover equipped not only with academic knowledge, but also with the character needed to thrive in today’s world.
Our mission is to educate all students to be successful. We live this mission by creating a safe, caring, and academically challenging environment where high expectations are paired with strong support systems. Parents, teachers, and community partners work together to ensure accountability and growth for every student. Teachers collaborate in Professional Learning Communities to analyze student data, design engaging lessons, and provide targeted interventions. Counselors support students’ social and emotional development through individual sessions, small groups, and classroom guidance, while our school social worker provides additional services for families in need. Stover teachers embrace continuous learning and innovation, incorporating technology, tiered interventions, and creative instructional strategies to make classrooms rigorous and student-centered.
School culture at Stover is anchored by our motto, “PROWL – Positive, Respectful, Organized, Wise, and Lifelong Learners.” Through our PBIS framework, students who demonstrate positive behaviors are recognized and rewarded, reinforcing the values of responsibility and respect. Beyond the classroom, students are engaged through athletics, clubs, and tutoring opportunities. Sports programs such as football, basketball, volleyball, wrestling, cheer, and archery foster teamwork and discipline, while monthly clubs allow students to explore personal interests and talents. For students needing extra support, after school tutoring provides focused academic assistance.
Stover is also deeply committed to community involvement. Each year, our students and staff raise funds and volunteer to support causes such as the Prisma Health Breast Cancer Walk for Life, Relay for Life, Tigers Take Time to Care, Books for Blaney, and Food for the Souls. This year, Stover raised over $7,000 to give back to the community, instilling in students a sense of responsibility to serve others.
Instructionally, we remain focused on providing high-quality Tier 1 instruction for all students, with Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions available to meet individual needs. Our beliefs are rooted in the understanding that educating children is a team effort, that students must be accountable for their own actions, and that respect for individual differences builds a healthy school community. We believe students thrive when given consistent expectations, high standards, and encouragement to take ownership of their learning.
At Leslie M. Stover Middle School, we are dedicated to equipping every student with the knowledge, skills, and character to succeed—today, tomorrow, and for a lifetime.
