Camden Middle School is helping all students develop world class skills and the life career characteristics of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by developing confident, responsible, and competent learners. Our dedication to our SOAR values of Success, Ownership, Attitude, and Respect are demonstrated by our staff through the implementation of best practices and continuous professional development, and by our students through their continued growth academically and socially.
We are proud of the accomplishments and growth we have experienced this year. Our Academic Quiz Bowl team walked away with a championship at the district wide tournament. The Beta Club has currently accumulated over 23,000 service hours. This places them first in the state and 5th in the nation at the time of this report. Our Student Council worked to serve our community by collecting 1800 lbs of food in which they donated to the United Way. They also sponsored nine children at Christmas. Furthermore, the Book Club created a banner which won 3rd place in the statewide South Carolina Association of School Librarian contest.
In the Arts we are honored to have our Art, Band, and Chorus programs on the rise again. We had multiple students place in our district wide art show, band students who placed in the all-region band, and the chorus was selected to perform special performances at a number of local events.
In athletics, our Girls Basketball team had an undefeated season and walked away with the Wateree River Athletic Conference Championship. The Boys Basketball team and Volleyball teams both finished second in the conference. Wrestling had one of the best seasons in school history by going 15 and 2, with multiple wrestlers eventually placing at the state level.
We are thankful for the support provided to our school and students and realize that any success realized at Camden Middle School is the result of a team effort between parents, students, staff and our community.
Finally, we are proud to share that our school was re-designated as a “Schools to Watch,” by The National Forum to Accelerate Middle Grades Reform in conjunction with the South Carolina Association of Middle Level Educators (SCAMLE). This recognition and honor shows that Camden Middle continues to demonstrate best practices in the areas of academic excellence, developmental responsiveness, and social equity.
