Bryson Middle School is dedicated to helping all students develop the world-class skills and life and career characteristics outlined in the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate. We achieve this by providing a safe, caring, and academically challenging learning environment. Our commitment is reflected in our school vision: "Building a Mindset for Success." We inspire students to believe in themselves, strive towards their goals, and achieve success by employing best practices and fostering continuous professional development for our teachers.
We are proud of our students’ accomplishments across academics, fine arts, athletics, agriculture, and Gateway to Technology. This year, we inducted approximately 50 members into the Jr. Beta Club and were honored as a Beta Club School of Distinction at the Junior Beta Club Convention. Two of our sports teams went to the finals for their season. Our Gateway to Technology course was awarded a $10,000 Project Lead The Way grant to support expansion of our Gateway program and launch a brand-new Robotics class. Our fine arts program continues to grow, with over 120 students participating in our Chorus and Theatre programs. These students showcased their talents in a full presentation of Beauty and the Beast. Our Band and Orchestra also excelled, earning Excellent ratings in adjudicated performances. Additionally, our Chorus, Band, and Orchestra participated in musical events at Carowinds, as well as local, county, and regional band and orchestral events.
At Bryson Middle, we emphasize the development of the whole child through various programs beyond academics. Our counselors delivered 12 classroom lessons this past year to increase in-person interaction with students and presented a Parent University Night focused on students' online interactions. Our students engaged in numerous community service projects, including fundraising for non-profit organizations and volunteer services. We continued our partnership with the Backpack Blessings program to provide weekend food supplies for students.
This past school year, students in all grade levels benefited from multiple field trips, enriching their learning with experiences beyond the school building. Over 500 students participated in a job shadowing day, Career Day, and visitation to our career centers for exploring careers they wish to pursue after high school or college. Our PTSA continous to grow raising funds to enhance our school building and landscaping.
