Sevier Middle School is committed to developing the world-class knowledge, life skills, and career characteristics outlined in the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate. We provide a rigorous academic program enriched by applied learning experiences in a safe, supportive, and student-centered environment. Our 1:1 technology initiative ensures that every student is equipped to engage with high-quality, modern learning experiences.
Our school culture is vibrant, dynamic, and rooted in continuous improvement. Teachers and staff are dedicated to refining their instructional practices, assessments, and student support systems to maximize achievement and personal growth for every student.
Project-based learning, grounded in a STEAM framework, is a cornerstone of our instructional approach. Students develop creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and communication skills as they tackle real-world challenges through the engineering design process. Across all subjects, academic literacy is a focal point, with students honing their skills in reading, annotation, analysis, vocabulary, research, writing, and oral communication. Math instruction emphasizes problem-solving through relevant, real-life applications. Our classrooms are active, engaging, and hands-on, with ongoing formative assessments and feedback guiding student progress toward high expectations. As Falcons, we approach each challenge with focus and clarity—our motto is Focus. Challenge. Prepare. Currently, 58% of our students leave Sevier having earned at least one high school credit.
We offer a robust and diverse related arts program, including instrumental and choral music, visual arts, foreign language, robotics, and digital media. Our course catalog continues to grow, now including high school credit courses in Engineering, Computer Science, Google Applications, Multimedia, Chorus, Band, Strings, Art, and seven virtual offerings. Our world-class robotics team has qualified for the VEX World Championships for seven consecutive years, a testament to our students’ innovation and excellence.
Our Friday morning Enrichment sessions allow students to pursue academic interests, accelerate learning, and engage in personal development activities. We are proud of our tradition of academic innovation and our commitment to whole-child development. Through comprehensive school counseling, student leadership programs, and a wide range of extracurricular activities, we ensure students are prepared not only academically but socially and emotionally as well.
Our ABC initiatives—focusing on Attendance, Behavior, and Classroom performance—provide consistent mentoring, monitoring, and motivation, celebrating student success and growth. Quarterly Gathering of Falcons ceremonies honor students for both character and academic achievement, reinforcing our school’s values and positive culture.
Sevier Middle School has been re-designated as a School to Watch by the National Forum to Accelerate Middle Grades Reform and the Association for Middle Level Education. We are also proud to be a re-designated RAMP school, the highest honor awarded by the American School Counselor Association for comprehensive school counseling programs.
We are deeply grateful for the continued support of our families and the hundreds of volunteers who enrich our school community. Their partnership strengthens our mission and helps connect student learning to the broader world. Thank you for joining us in shaping the future graduates—and future leaders—of South Carolina.
