Northwood Middle School supports all students in developing the World Class Skills outlined in the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by fostering a safe, nurturing, and academically rigorous learning environment. We achieve this by living out our school vision of being “A Community of Learners.” This vision comes to life as we challenge students to reach their highest potential through best instructional practices in a collaborative setting. Ongoing professional learning for our educators remains a cornerstone of our school’s success.
Beyond academics, Northwood provides numerous opportunities to support the development of the whole child, including athletics and student-led clubs focused on shared interests. We believe that building both academic and interpersonal skills is critical for lifelong success. For this reason, we maintain a student-centered approach in all we do to create a meaningful and enriching middle school experience. We teach our students to be learners, teammates, and leaders.
Our students take on leadership roles through service learning and participation in Student Council, Junior Beta Club, National Junior Honor Society, National Junior Art Honor Society, and peer tutoring. These experiences empower students to serve others and strengthen our school’s commitment to community. We also continue to grow our partnership with United Way’s Mentor Greenville program, which fosters self-esteem, confidence, and academic progress. Our school counselors play a vital role in student development by providing monthly classroom guidance on executive functioning, peer mediation, character education, and career readiness. At Northwood Middle, we believe that the education of our young people is a shared responsibility among the school, family, and community. We thank you for your support as we work together to develop South Carolina’s future graduates and global leaders. Mr. Donald Spann, Chair of the School Improvement Council, Mr. Treva Lee, Principal
