It's a Great Day to BE A RAM!
Greenville Middle Academy (GMA) is a recognized South Carolina Schools to Watch magnet Academy serving students in grades 6–8. Our faculty and staff are committed to ensuring every student reaches their fullest potential by providing a safe, inclusive, supportive, and academically rigorous learning environment where all students are known, valued, and challenged.
At Greenville Middle Academy, we believe that excellence is achieved through strong relationships, high expectations, and meaningful learning experiences. We work with families and the community, and our administrators, teachers, and staff provide an interdisciplinary education that helps students become critical thinkers, creative problem-solvers, effective communicators, and responsible citizens prepared to thrive in a changing world.
Our mission is to collaborate with families and community partners to provide diverse, engaging, and academically challenging opportunities that empower students to become confident, self-directed, lifelong learners.
Academic Excellence with a Global Perspective
Greenville Middle Academy provides a rigorous curriculum that emphasizes literacy, writing, world languages, and global awareness. We challenge students with engaging instruction that fosters inquiry, innovation, and academic excellence.
GMA offers numerous opportunities for students to earn high school credit while in middle school, including Honors Geometry with Statistics, English I, Spanish I, French I and II, Band I, Orchestra I, and Art I. We are also proud to house the district's only French Immersion middle school program, allowing students to continue the immersive language experience begun in elementary school.
Our comprehensive Fine Arts and Related Arts programs include Band, Orchestra, Chorus, Visual Arts, Media Literacy, Global Studies, Physical Education, and World Languages. These programs cultivate creativity, cultural awareness, collaboration, and resilience while providing students with opportunities to discover and develop their unique talents. Our music programs continue to earn recognition at both the district and state levels for their outstanding achievements.
Innovation and Future Readiness
Technology is purposefully integrated into instruction across all content areas to prepare students for college, careers, and life beyond the classroom. Students participate in courses such as Google Basics, Computer Technology, Multimedia Basics, and Project Lead the Way Gateway to Technology modules, including Design and Modeling, App Creator, and Automation and Robotics.
College and career exploration is embedded throughout the middle school experience, helping students connect classroom learning to future educational and professional opportunities while developing the critical thinking and problem-solving skills necessary for success in the 21st century.
Supporting the Whole Child
Greenville Middle Academy recognizes that academic success is built upon students feeling healthy, safe, supported, engaged, and challenged. We are committed to educating the whole child by creating an environment where every student feels a sense of belonging, builds meaningful relationships, and develops the confidence to achieve their goals.
Our dedicated school counselors work collaboratively with students, families, teachers, and community partners to support students' academic achievement, social-emotional well-being, and successful transitions into and beyond middle school.
Teachers engage in continuous professional learning and collaborate through Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to analyze student data, refine instructional practices, and ensure every student receives high-quality instruction and appropriate support. Partnerships with local businesses, community organizations, and faith-based groups further enhance the educational opportunities and services available to our students.
Leadership, Service, and Student Engagement
Learning extends beyond the classroom through a wide variety of extracurricular activities that encourage leadership, service, and personal growth. Students participate in competitive athletic programs including baseball, softball, basketball, soccer, and volleyball.
Leadership opportunities include RAMmbassadors, Peer Mentors, National Junior Honor Society, Student Council, Intramurals, and numerous academic and interest-based clubs. These experiences foster leadership, collaboration, civic responsibility, and school pride while helping students develop the skills necessary to become engaged members of their communities.
Family and Community Partnerships
Strong partnerships with families and the community are central to the success of Greenville Middle Academy. Our School Improvement Council (SIC) and Parent Teacher Association (PTA) partner with the school to enhance student learning, strengthen school culture, and expand opportunities for students and staff.
The dedication of our volunteers, business partners, and community organizations contributes significantly to the vibrant learning environment that defines Greenville Middle Academy.
