Dr. Ronald E. McNair School of Digital Communication and Leadership (DREM-DCL) strives to create an environment conducive to learning with high expectations for all students that will promote student growth in academics, social, emotional, and mental health. Each child is unique and can learn in a safe, consistent, and engaging environment that fosters emotional, intellectual, physical, and social growth. Our mission is to value all students and empower them to become college or career-ready.
DREM-DCL is a Leader in Me School that teaches and promotes the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. Utilizing this program provides leadership and academic skills to our students to help them improve their academic performance and become confident leaders in all walks of life. In addition, we are a PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) school that promotes positive behavior and safety for all students. DREM-DCL is a proud Title I School striving to help each student reach their full potential.
DREM-DCL provides students with access to technology devices as a supplemental learning tool. Students can access all of their classes and assignments in Google Classroom. The school operates on a five-period class schedule, with teachers providing academic intervention for students. Math 180 and Read 180 are the two intervention programs currently used at DREM-DCL. Advisory time is held daily for thirty minutes for students to receive academic support and learn character education through the Leader in Me program.
Our teachers participate in weekly Professional Learning Communities (PLC) to enhance their pedagogical practices and ability to analyze data through intentionally driven instruction. In addition to school and district-level professional development opportunities, many of our instructional staff participate in off-site PD and conferences sponsored by the South Carolina State Department, Leader in Me, and other curriculum-specific conferences.
The administration and faculty of Dr. Ronald E. McNair School of Digital Communication and Leadership remain committed to ensuring that all students are supported academically, socially, and emotionally. DREM-DCL appreciates the support from parents and the community as we continue to move forward and help our students gain the knowledge and skills needed to become college or career-ready.
