At Alston Middle School, we are committed to strengthening Tier 1 instruction within a robust Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework. Teachers are supported in using high-impact strategies grounded in John Hattie’s Visible Learning research to ensure that core instruction is clear, intentional, and aligned with what works best to improve student achievement. Through MTSS, we use data to monitor progress, identify learning and behavioral needs early, and respond with targeted interventions. This system ensures that all students—regardless of their starting point—receive the support necessary to grow and succeed.
Classrooms are equipped with the latest technology, including interactive whiteboards and computers, to enhance teaching and learning. We utilize online learning platforms that enable students to access assignments, resources, and feedback—facilitating a blended learning environment that combines in-person and digital instruction.
