Schofield Middle School is committed to ensuring that all students develop the World Class Skills outlined in the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate. We strive to create and maintain a supportive and engaging learning environment that equips students with world-class knowledge, essential skills, and strong life and career characteristics.
In our second year of schoolwide AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) implementation, we have consistently integrated the WICOR strategies—Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading—into our daily instruction. These strategies, along with a strong focus on student organization, serve as foundational tools to enhance instructional practices and student engagement.
To exemplify the development of World Class Skills, our focus remains on equipping students with essential competencies that are transferable to any post-secondary or career pathway. We have prioritized strengthening Tier 1 instruction to ensure all students achieve mastery of grade-level skills and concepts.
At Schofield Middle School, we cultivate a culture in which students are celebrated, empowered to lead, encouraged to make sound decisions, and motivated to achieve academic excellence. School systems and support structures such as the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), Intersession, content recovery programs, grade-level meetings, mentoring initiatives, exhibitions of student work, and service-learning opportunities ensure that every student experiences a sense of belonging and is recognized as a valued member of our school community. We intentionally promote student self-advocacy and leadership while continuously celebrating growth and achievement.
While intentional planning for effective teaching and learning is a priority at the beginning of each school year, we also recognize the importance of celebrating student success throughout the year. We honor excellence in academics, positive behavior, community involvement, artistic talents, teamwork, and athletic accomplishments through various recognition events. These include AVID celebrations, quarterly honor roll acknowledgments, positive behavior celebrations, our annual Athletic Banquet, Junior Beta Club inductions, and recognition of South Carolina Junior Scholars.
This year, we proudly celebrated the achievements of two South Carolina Junior Scholars, three students accepted into Aiken Scholars Academy, and numerous students earning honor roll distinctions. Our teacher was named the district’s STARS Teacher of the Year finalist, and our principal was named the district’s STARS Principal of the Year! Furthermore, our Boys' Basketball and Football teams were crowned District Champions—an accomplishment that speaks to the spirit of dedication and teamwork our students embody.
We are excited about the future and remain committed to continuing our journey toward excellence. We look forward to deepening our partnerships with families and the broader school community as we work collaboratively to support every student's success.
