Nation Ford High School is committed to helping our students develop world-class skills so they are college and career ready. While in high school, our students gain the necessary skills to positively impact our world through a culture of academic excellence, a family atmosphere, and an engaging classroom environment. Our school community works together in this family atmosphere to support all students in becoming models of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate. As a result of this hard work, Nation Ford High School was named a Blue Ribbon Lighthouse School this year.
We are proud of the hard work of our teachers and students who make Nation Ford a great school. Our students are gaining world-class knowledge and will be college and career ready. Our teachers have helped students master the content necessary to positively impact our community and world. In this graduating class, 50 students were Palmetto Fellow recipients, 72 were Life Scholarship recipients, and 227 were Hope Scholarship recipients.
Our students have also developed world-class skills that are the foundation of their academic success. Our Leadership Team guides the professional learning for our school and ensures that all students receive equitable opportunities for learning. Our graduation rate is 92%, demonstrating that our teachers provide opportunities for critical thinking, problem-solving, innovation, collaboration, and differentiation. They have utilized effective instructional practices to help students become college and career ready.
Our Advanced Placement program continues to showcase the world-class skills of our students. This year, 698 students sat for AP exams, and they achieved a pass rate of 89%. While academics is an important indicator of world-class skills, Nation Ford High School also offers many other opportunities for students to develop these competencies. Our marching band won the state championship. Our student-athletes excelled this year, with multiple programs competing for region and state championships. Twenty-five student-athletes earned the opportunity to compete at the collegiate level.
While world-class knowledge and skills are vital, we are also proud of the life and career characteristics our students developed this year. We place a strong emphasis in our mission on all students learning, and we want every student to feel like they belong to the school family. To this end, our Student Council sponsored a Club Rush at the beginning of the year so that students could find a club to join. They continued to sponsor events throughout the year to build our sense of family.
We also know that some of our students are more career-ready, and we provide work-based learning opportunities for them. We offer onsite opportunities in Digital Arts and Design, Culinary Arts, Media Technology, Engineering, Journalism, Sports Medicine, Early Childhood Education, Health Science, and many others. We also have clubs such as HOSA, Model United Nations, and Mock Trial that compete at state and national levels. All of these organizations and classes help students develop the characteristics needed to make a positive impact on the world.
These accomplishments demonstrate the hard work and dedication of our school family, and we are extremely proud that our students graduate ready to positively impact the world!
