Spartanburg High School has a long history of excellence in academics, athletics, and extracurricular activities. We strive to be intentional in all that we do, and to challenge our students academically and provide guidance that leads to our graduates' being creative, critical thinkers, collaborators, effective communicators, and ethical citizens. We recognize that the knowledge, skills, and competencies students learn will serve as the foundation for future learning. To ensure that we meet the needs of all students, we have aligned our instructional practices, professional development, and educational philosophy. Our administration, faculty, and staff share a commitment to excellence for all students, data-driven goal setting, and a clear vision of where we want to go. This multifaceted approach to developing the whole child will assist our students in developing the traits identified in the SC Graduate Profile: integrity, self-direction, global perspective, perseverance, work ethic, and interpersonal skills.
Spartanburg High School collaborates with our parents (SIC and PTO) and the community to foster an environment of engagement, enthusiasm, and excellence. As a school community, our goal is to keep up our tradition of excellence and make sure Spartanburg High School stays a place where students can make the most of their education and learn to be caring, responsible young adults.
Our robust 1:1 journey continues to grow each year, allowing us to take advantage of the latest instructional technology tools to better serve our students. Ongoing professional development opportunities help teachers prepare for and maximize their use of technology for creating, communicating, and learning. Teachers use an increasing number of strategies to help students engage with the curriculum and maintain the high levels of achievement expected by our school and community. Our faculty and staff not only model the Profile's world-class skills but also its life and career characteristics. Through our nationally-recognized Advanced Placement program, AVID, Dual Enrollment courses, CTE and innovative courses both on campus and at our career center, and a variety of occupational programs, SHS students are pushed to develop a global view, self-direction, and persistence.
SHS values learning space and time. Students and faculty can thrive in a structured and safe environment. The support staff is available to help students with any needs they may have, ensuring that every student is physically and emotionally healthy and ready to learn. We fully support the principle of continuous improvement at Spartanburg High School. This dedication can be seen in our students' academic and extracurricular achievements, as well as in our instructional programs and community collaboration.
