Landrum High School is helping all students develop the world-class skills and life and career characteristics of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by building strong relationships with students, parents, staff members, and community partners. We challenge our students to be prepared to successfully enter the workforce, military, or college once they graduate from Landrum High.
At Landrum High School, students have opportunities to discover their passions in academics, arts, and athletics. The Class of 2025 was awarded more than $1.5 million in scholarships, and several post-secondary institutions will receive our students this fall. Several students received recognition by earning a Seal of Biliteracy, the Palmetto Fellows scholarship, entering the military, or joining the workforce.
In our academic arts department, LHS hosted two theatre performances. Several students' artwork was placed in multiple shows, including the Inman Mills Art Gallery, Tryon Fine Arts Center, and the Chapman Cultural Center. Several band members were named to the Region Band and All-State Band. In addition, several band and orchestra members earned Solo and Ensemble Awards.
Landrum High School athletes also garnered recognition for their efforts. Several student-athletes signed to play at the collegiate level. The girls' tennis team finished as the State Runner-Up. We had seven teams win Region Championships. Ten athletes were named Region Player of the Year. In addition, four coaches were named Region Coach of the Year. We had a total of 87 athletes named All-Region, and 37 student-athletes were named All-State.
Preparing our students also includes integrating them into community life. This year, our student volunteers provided several thousand hours of volunteer service. Our students participated in several area projects, including Operation Stand Down, Rise Against Hunger, March of Dimes, and the annual Spartanburg One Christmas for All event, which served over 200 community families.
Teachers and staff participated in multiple ongoing professional development sessions, presentations, and classes during the year. Several teachers were asked to present at state and national conferences. Instructional initiatives included cross-district academic team meetings and collaboration.
Landrum High School will continue to prepare our students for future success as productive members of society. We believe, as our motto states, “Every Student Matters...Every Moment Counts!”
