During the 2024-2025 school year, Airport High School students and staff continued to focus on the World Class Skills identified by the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate. Airport High School’s Mission and Vision Statements drive us toward developing our students to be world-class citizens. We will achieve our mission and vision by meeting our students’ academic and social needs every day.
This was another banner year of recognition for student talent and leadership. Airport had more than 100 students in grades 9-12 enrolled in Dual Enrollment courses offered in partnership with Midlands Technical College. Additionally, we had 16 students in our graduating Class of 2025 participate in the Early College program, with nine earning Associate of Art and/or Associate of Science Diplomas and seven earning General Studies Certificates. We also had four students earn Dual Enrollment credit through Teacher Cadet. In addition to Dual Enrollment and Early College programs, Airport High School also offers a variety of AP Courses, including AP Language & Composition, AP Literature, AP Probability and Statistics, AP Calculus AB, AP Chemistry, AP Biology, AP US History, AP Human Geography, AP Psychology, AP Government, AP Art Studio, and AP Seminar. Thirty students were recognized as College Board AP Scholars, and of those, three students were recognized with Honors, 17 with Distinction, and seven with High Honors.
We are extremely proud of our graduating Class of 2025. Our graduates accumulated more than $10 million in scholarships. Six students were Palmetto Fellows and earned the state’s esteemed scholarship, 11 students earned the LIFE Scholarship, and 130 students earned the state’s HOPE scholarship.
Airport High School’s student council coordinated the annual Camp Kemo fundraiser, bringing in more than $20,000 to help send children with cancer to summer camp. Airport High School’s student council also attended the SCASC State Convention in March, with hundreds of participants from roughly 45 schools across the state. Airport was named a Gold Council of Excellence for the ninth consecutive year.
Airport High’s Fine Arts Department had multiple students recognized for their accomplishments during the 2024-2025 school year. Several honors choral students were accepted into the South Carolina All-State Chorus, the most prestigious choir in the state. Several honors choral students were also accepted into the SC American Choral Directors Association Honors Choir. Our theater program put on two highly successful shows for our district schools and community, and our band and orchestra had multiple students recognized for their performances. Several orchestra students were accepted into the SCMEA All-Region Orchestra.
Airport High School athletic programs had an extremely successful year. Our baseball team won the state’s 4A Region, Lower State, and State Championship titles! This was the first baseball state championship in school history, and the team finished with a school record 27 wins. Our cheerleaders finished as one of the top-ranked programs at the state’s 4A competition. Our Lady Eagles softball team won multiple playoff games. Our JROTC program also continues to earn recognition on the state and national levels.
At Airport High School, we firmly believe developing world class knowledge and skills, as well as life and career characteristics through rigorous academics and engaging extracurricular and leadership opportunities, will translate into success for our students. Our school and its stakeholders look forward to honoring our school’s traditions of academics, involvement, and service, as well as contributing to our school’s success during the upcoming 2025 - 2026 school year.
