At Andrew Jackson High, we’re shaping tomorrow—preparing every student to be career-ready, college-bound, or service-strong the day after graduation. Our mission is to develop students equipped with world-class skills and the life and career characteristics aligned with the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate. We achieve this by providing a rigorous academic curriculum across core subjects, enriched by opportunities in the arts, athletics, career and technology education, and leadership training through JROTC. Our well-rounded approach prepares students to perform at high levels—regionally, statewide, and nationally.
In the 2024-2025 school year, our graduation rate remained strong at 87%, a slight dip from our high of 91.7% in the previous school year but still significantly higher than our post-COVID low of 75.7%. Our students achieved a composite ACT score of 16 (compared to a district average of 16.8 and a state score of 18.3). The mean SAT mathematics score was 474 (compared to a district average of 485 and a state average of 491).
As the district’s arts magnet school, we proudly offer six areas of artistic concentration: chorus, dance, visual art, instrumental music/band, piano, and drama. Students in these programs can earn honors or AP credit and often compete at the district, state, and national levels, showcasing their talents and gaining valuable recognition.
To ensure our students are college- and career-ready, we provide extensive opportunities in career and technical education. On our campus, students can pursue certifications in fields such as health science, sports medicine, auto mechanics, agricultural education, architecture and mechanical design, building construction, and several business pathways. Students may also access a broader array of career courses at the Lancaster County Career Center.
Through partnerships with USC-Lancaster, Winthrop University, and York Technical College, our students can earn dual credits that enhance both their high school and college transcripts. Notably, six members of the Class of 2024 earned associate degrees while completing their high school diplomas, and one student earned two associate degrees—a testament to their ambition and our supportive academic environment.
We are committed to continuous improvement and have established a feedback loop with recent alumni to inform our teaching practices and program development. We recognize that our most successful graduates are often those who were engaged beyond the classroom. To support this, we offer a wide range of extracurricular opportunities, including ten competitive athletic teams in Class AA and a variety of clubs spanning academics, service, and special interests. These activities foster essential soft skills such as teamwork, perseverance, and leadership--all skills that serve our students well after graduation.
At Andrew Jackson High School, our dedicated teachers and staff work tirelessly to ensure that the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate is not just a goal, but a reflection of every Andrew Jackson Volunteer.
