J. L. Mann High School Academy for Mathematics, Science, and Technology is helping all students develop the world class skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate through multiple programmatic and course offerings. J. L. Mann is a magnet with an Academy of Mathematics, Science, and Technology. NewTech@Mann is an innovative project-based learning model that functions as a school-within-a-school. Both the magnet and NewTech@Mann are examples of how we have maintained and enhanced our reputation for academic, extracurricular, and athletic excellence for 60 years.
J. L. Mann High School students continued their record of accomplishments in the 2024-2025 school year. The Graduating Class of 2025 included students qualifying for Palmetto Fellows, LIFE scholarships, and Hope scholarships. The class also boasted AP Scholars and AP Capstone recipients.
J. L. Mann High School continued the tradition of innovative programs in the 2024-2025 school year. The after-school tutoring programs continued to support achievement by reducing the number of students failing courses school-wide. Additionally, students had the opportunity to participate in academic programs such as Accelerate; NewTech@Mann; the magnet Academy for Mathematics, Science, and Technology; the Fine Arts Center; the Golden Strip Career Center, and the CTE Innovation Center. Students earned college credits by participating in both Advanced Placement courses as well as Dual Credit classes through Greenville Technical College.
J.L. Mann High School’s PTSA continues to be one of the largest and most active statewide for the 2024-25 school year. The PTSA awarded mini-grants to teachers to help fund innovative ideas and reimbursed them for classroom supplies. J. L. Mann PTSA also sponsored our End of Course Examination incentives. The School Improvement Council (SIC) continues to assist and advise the administration in important matters. The Athletic Booster Club helped continue the successful Mann athletic tradition by raising money for all of the athletic teams. The PTSA, SIC, and Booster Club are integral partners with the school.
J. L. Mann sports teams continued to perform well on the field. More than 800 athletes competed in 22 sports and on 36 teams. Boys swimming, boys tennis, boys soccer, and girls soccer all won the State Championships. Eight of our teams won region championships this school year.
The J. L. Mann robotics team placed highly in the state competition as well as competed at the World Championships in Dallas, TX. The JROTC Armed Battalion competed at the National Championships for their armed exhibition routine for the fourth year in a row.
Students also have many opportunities in the arts at J. L. Mann. The marching band competed at several band competitions. They earned many honors and awards in those competitions. The chorus held multiple concerts throughout the year as well as performed at graduation. The theatre department put on a play in the Fall and musical in the Spring. The visual arts department had several students win prizes in juried art competitions as well as held their own J. L. Mann juried art show in the Spring.
Building on a strong foundation of past achievements and an unwavering commitment to continuous improvement, J. L. Mann High School Academy of Mathematics, Science, and Technology is poised to meet the ever-changing challenges of the 21st Century with innovation, purpose, and enthusiasm. We remain dedicated to providing an array of opportunities that empower students to excel academically, grow personally, and thrive in a rapidly shifting and dynamic world.
