Greer High School is committed to helping every student develop the World Class Skills outlined in the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by providing a safe, caring, and academically rigorous learning environment. Our dedicated faculty and staff champion the success and well-being of every student by meeting them where they are and guiding them forward through personalized learning experiences that prepare them for success in high school and beyond. At Greer High, we focus on cultivating students’ growth in critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity — the cornerstones of a world-class education.
Opportunities for students to develop these skills include:
The Freshman Academy — Ninth-grade students benefit from a dedicated Freshman Academy team that provides personalized support, celebrates academic successes, sets goals, and promotes character education and targeted interventions.
Personalized Learning — As a 1:1 school, every student is issued a Chromebook. Our teachers engage in ongoing professional development to enhance instruction through personalized learning strategies, ensuring that the unique needs of each learner are met.
Graduation Plus — Our robust Career and Technology Education programs include Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering, Project Lead the Way Computer Science, Agriculture, Health Science, Global Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Virtual Enterprise, and a range of Business Education courses. Our state-of-the-art Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering labs prepare students for career pathways in Welding, Machine Tools, Mechatronics, Architecture, and Building Construction at Bonds Career Center. In the fall of 2023, we opened The Branch at Greer High, a student-run branch of the Greenville Federal Credit Union.
The International Baccalaureate (IB) Program — Greer High offers open enrollment to the rigorous, two-year IB Diploma Program, providing students with a globally focused curriculum and opportunities to earn college credit. Our IB diploma candidates regularly gain admission to prestigious colleges and universities.
Dual Credit Courses — Students can earn college credits while still in high school through Dual Credit courses offered in partnership with Greenville Technical College and Clemson University, taught right on our campus. Courses include English 101 & 102, Psychology, Sociology, Speech, Health Science, and Teacher Education.
Advanced Placement (AP) Courses — Students can challenge themselves through a variety of AP courses across multiple subject areas.
Fine Arts — Greer High students thrive in our Band, Chorus, Orchestra, Art, and Theatre programs. In the 2024–2025 school year, the Band and Chorus earned the Outstanding Performance Award — the highest recognition for music programs in South Carolina. The Orchestra earned a superior rating, and multiple choir students achieved All-State honors. Visual Arts students continue to earn accolades in competitions such as Artisphere, PTSA Reflections, and the City of Greer Art Show.
Athletics — Greer High has a strong athletic tradition, offering 33 teams (18 varsity and 15 sub-varsity). In 2024, our Boys’ Basketball team competed in the Upper State Championship, continuing our legacy of excellence. For the 2024–2025 school year, every athletic team—along with individual athletes—qualified for the state playoffs.
Culture of Service — Service is at the heart of our school culture. Students can get involved through Service Learning, Peer Tutoring, Leo Club, and other opportunities. Each year, Student Government leads Spirit Week fundraising efforts, raising significant support for local charities and businesses.
Our faculty and staff are committed to continuous growth through small and large group professional learning communities, teacher-led professional development, and full-staff training focused on student-centered instruction. We are dedicated to educating the whole child by providing robust social, emotional, and academic supports, including access to a behavior interventionist, graduation interventionist, and school counselors.
In Spring 2023, Greer High School was proud to be named a state finalist and Honorable Mention winner for the Dick and Tunky Riley Award for School Improvement Excellence. We believe in strong partnerships with parents and the community, and we look forward to another year of growth and success for all Yellow Jackets!
