Dear Parents and Community Partners,
James Island Charter High School is beginning its twenty-third year as a charter school. Our charter status allows us to expand our curriculum, staffing, and opportunities to ensure that every student has access to a rigorous and meaningful educational experience. Guided by our motto, "Achievement for All," we strive to prepare students to meet the demands of college, careers, and citizenship while developing the World Class Skills outlined in the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate.
James Island Charter High School offers a comprehensive Program of Studies designed to meet the diverse interests, talents, and aspirations of our students. Course offerings include International Baccalaureate (IB), Advanced Placement (AP), Honors, College Preparatory, Dual Enrollment, Career and Technical Education (CTE), Teacher Cadet, and Applied Technology programs. As the only Charleston County School District high school authorized to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, we continue to provide unique opportunities for students to pursue globally recognized academic credentials.
Academic excellence remains a hallmark of our school. Our students continue to achieve at exceptionally high levels on state and national assessments, helping James Island Charter High School maintain its Excellent rating on the South Carolina School Report Card. Members of the Class of 2026 achieved some of the highest ACT, SAT, IB, WIN, and End-of-Course assessment results in school history. The graduating class also earned more than $12.5 million in scholarship offers, setting a new school record.
Student achievement extends well beyond the classroom. The Class of 2026 included 125 Charleston County School District Board Scholars and 17 recipients of the South Carolina Academic Honors Award. Forty seniors completed four or more Advanced Placement courses, while students continued to excel in the International Baccalaureate Programme through diploma, pathway, and examination participation. In Career and Technical Education, 120 seniors completed career pathways, and students earned hundreds of industry certifications, demonstrating readiness for the workforce and post-secondary success.
James Island Charter High School students continue to distinguish themselves through service, leadership, and community involvement. Members of the National Honor Society collectively completed more than 2,000 hours of community service, supporting local organizations, schools, healthcare facilities, and community agencies throughout the Lowcountry. These experiences reinforce our commitment to developing responsible, engaged citizens who positively impact their communities.
Our students also excel in the arts and athletics. Performing arts students earned state and regional honors in band, orchestra, choir, and piano, receiving superior ratings, selections to honor ensembles, and distinguished performance awards. Student-athletes continued a tradition of excellence by contributing to numerous regional championships, state playoff appearances, state championships, and collegiate athletic scholarships.
The success of our students is made possible by a dedicated faculty and staff who provide meaningful learning experiences and cultivate strong relationships with students and families. Our educators recognize the diverse interests, abilities, and aspirations of every learner and work tirelessly to create an environment where all students can thrive.
James Island Charter High School remains a vibrant community committed to academic excellence, innovation, service, and student success. We value diversity, foster critical thinking, and prepare students to learn, lead, and contribute in an ever-changing world.
