Kings Town Elementary is dedicated to developing the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate in all students. We achieve this by addressing their academic, social, and emotional needs and focusing on educating the whole child. Our motto at KTES, "We are Knights. We belong. We learn. We succeed. Together," encapsulates our commitment to this mission.
In our fifth year, we've actively embodied these words by cultivating an inclusive community. We emphasize the 'Knights' traits: Respectful, Responsible, and Ready. These principles guide our school-wide behavior expectations and our Knight Notes positive behavior program, strengthening students as they develop into the well-rounded, excellent learners envisioned by the South Carolina graduate profile.
Kings Town Elementary provides rigorous K-5 instruction across all subjects, preparing students for their future. Our teachers implement the SC Curriculum Standards innovatively, encouraging active student participation. We utilize a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS), an integrated, three-tiered prevention model, to address all students' academic, behavioral, and social needs. Grade-level Professional Learning Teams meet regularly to discuss progress towards performance goals. Furthermore, a specialized team—comprising administrators, general and special education teachers, counselors, instructional specialists, and the school psychologist—meets monthly. This team focuses on students requiring additional support, discussing interventions, tracking progress, and planning next steps, often in collaboration with parents.
Kings Town Elementary is committed to nurturing our students through an equitable, challenging, and integrated education, emphasizing best practices and 21st-century skills.
