At Jefferson Elementary School, we are committed to preparing students for a successful future by nurturing both academic excellence and personal growth.
Our school is helping all students develop the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by fostering a learning environment where students are encouraged to be responsible, show initiative, think critically to solve problems, set and meet goals, and contribute meaningfully to their community and the world. These skills are embedded in our instructional practices and school culture. While we intensely focus on academics, we also prioritize teaching the whole child so that every student can reach their highest potential. In the 2024–2025 school year, we have emphasized high-quality Tier 1 instruction and collaboration. Through high expectations and an inclusive environment, our staff designs personalized learning experiences that meet the diverse needs of all students.
We use summative data from SC READY and SC PASS, along with formative assessments such as NWEA MAP, to guide our instructional decisions and professional development. This data-driven approach ensures we are responsive to student needs and continuously improving our practices.
In response to our 2024–2025 data, we will continue implementing flexible scheduling to provide targeted intervention and enrichment opportunities in ELA and Math. We believe that student growth is directly tied to teacher growth, so we are committed to supporting our educators through ongoing professional learning in literacy, mathematics, data-driven instruction, social-emotional learning, and technology integration.
We will continue to refine our collaborative planning to ensure it is grounded in the four essential questions of Professional Learning Communities (PLCs). This work supports academic success while also enhancing students’ social-emotional and behavioral development.
Additionally, our character education program emphasizes citizenship, interpersonal skills, and service learning. We actively engage with our community and participate in programs that help students develop into responsible, compassionate citizens of a global society.
At Jefferson Elementary School, we believe in the potential of every student and staff member. Achieving this potential requires a shared commitment from our school, families, and community. Together, we are preparing our students to become the next generation of South Carolina graduates and world leaders.
