Jesse S. Bobo Elementary School: Report Card Narrative 2024–2025
During the 2024–2025 academic year, Jesse S. Bobo Elementary School (JSBES) remained committed to supporting all students in developing the World Class Skills outlined in the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate. Our mission was advanced through a strategic focus on increasing academic achievement, promoting character development, and addressing the social and emotional needs of our students through continuous improvement efforts.
We began the school year by engaging families in meaningful collaboration, emphasizing the vital role of strong home-school partnerships. Building and maintaining these relationships is a top priority at JSBES. Our team remains dedicated to expanding family engagement opportunities in the coming year to strengthen involvement and connection. This past school year, we employed innovative strategies to communicate and collaborate with families. JSBES hosted a variety of in-person events including family engagement nights, award ceremonies, musical and arts performances, and academic conferences—all aimed at enhancing the home-to-school and school-to-home connection. We also partnered with the Parents as Teachers Program to support even more parent involvement in our school and community.
Our educators supported the development of world-class skills by incorporating rigorous, standards-based instruction that emphasized integration, differentiation, and inquiry-based learning. Collaboration was central to our instructional model, with teachers working across grade levels and alongside administrators, instructional coaches, and district personnel to provide students with high-quality learning experiences. To further improve student outcomes, JSBES educators actively participated in both school-based and district-led professional development to remain informed about research-based best practices in education.
Character development also remained a cornerstone of our school culture. Through the implementation of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program, and comprehensive Social Emotional Learning (SEL) practices, students developed key interpersonal skills essential for both academic and personal success. Our school counselor, behavior interventionist, school psychologist, mental health counselor, and classroom teachers played instrumental roles in supporting students’ social-emotional growth. Under the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework, JSBES introduced small SEL student groups, which yielded significant positive outcomes.
This year, our school further refined its data-driven approach to teaching and learning under the MTSS model. Led by our MTSS team, we focused on individualized student goal setting, data conferences, and academic celebrations. With support from Title I funding, we enhanced instruction in both English Language Arts and Mathematics. A key initiative included the continued use of our digital data room, which visually tracks student progress and informs instructional planning. Every staff member was held accountable for supporting students' academic growth using this data.
To mitigate summer learning loss, JSBES offered a four-week Summer Reading Camp, free of charge for identified students. This program provided critical reading support during the month of June and was enthusiastically embraced by our families.
School Goals in Partnership with the School Improvement Council

Goal 3: Maintain a Safe and Healthy School Environment
Student safety and wellness are top priorities at JSBES. The school employs both a dedicated security guard and a School Resource Officer (SRO) to ensure a secure learning environment. An Evolve metal detection system is installed at all school entrances. Routine safety drills—including fire, tornado, earthquake, and intruder preparedness—are conducted throughout the school year.
Nutritional health is also emphasized, with the school providing breakfast, lunch, and dinner that meet state nutrition guidelines. Students participate in 60 minutes of physical education weekly and receive 30 minutes of daily recess. These programs promote long-term healthy lifestyle choices. Families receive ongoing health and safety information through our Weekly for the Week newsletter, the Bobo Bulletin, family engagement events, and classroom communication.
At JSBES, we believe that these collective efforts—developed in partnership with our families and community—reflect our ongoing commitment to engage, inspire, and educate every student. Through focused initiatives and collaborative leadership, we are preparing our learners to thrive both academically and personally as future graduates of South Carolina
