Tyger River Elementary is a brand new Elementary School in Spartanburg District Five. At Tyger River Elementary, students are immersed in a dynamic educational environment that fosters creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and technological proficiency. Through innovative programs such as A, Student-Led Conferences, and, students showcase their learning and problem-solving skills while embracing diverse perspectives and ideas. Every grade level invited parents into the school this year to showcase the application of their learning in authentic ways such as live performances, a living wax museum in third grade, community blessing box by Fourth Grade, Kindergarteners adopting patients at the local nursing home, Fourth Grade forming a clothing closet for winter, and Fifth Grade helping feed the homeless at Breaking Bread for Jesus.. Guided by the TRES principles of , taking care of self and others, respecting everyone, expecting your best, staying safe by following directions and rules, students take ownership of their learning journey and emerge as empowered leaders. Our focus aligns with our district AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) initiative to provide all students with opportunities to reach their college and career readiness potential. With the support of initiatives like AVID and WICOR (Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization and Reading) methodologies, as well as opportunities for class buddies and leadership involvement in student council, students develop the academic progress and interpersonal skills necessary for success in both academia and the broader world. All of our teachers were trained on how to analyze results from our Panorama social emotional learning survey. Teachers then used this information to personalize the social and emotional needs of the students in their classroom. We also provide a full continuum of services on site incorporating differentiation for students with special needs, as well as our gifted and talented students. These students are challenged daily through our integrated academic model. We are an inclusive environment that fosters the growth of student leaders. We give our inclusive students every opportunity possible to interact with their age appropriate peers. To share our vision, our students, wrote and hosted a weekly Morning Show, and performed in a spring drama production. Our supportive PTO, School Improvement Council (SIC), mentor volunteers, and our community supporters help us greatly as we serve our families. To facilitate even better communication with the community, TRE uses Instagram, monthly parent newsletters, TRE website, Facebook, text messages, and emails to help keep everyone informed.TRE is not just a place of education, but a vibrant community where students thrive as they prepare for their futures.
