Our school is helping all students to develop the world-class skills of the "Profile of the Graduate" in several different ways. Our district motto is "Every Child, Every Day". We believe all students should be involved with exceptional learning opportunities in order to prepare them to be successful in life and to be able to be productive citizens.
As Wellford Academy is a science and technology magnet school, we want our students to have the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and skills in all areas of STEM. Our STEM curriculum will focus on the implementation of the 4 C’s of 21st century skills which include Collaboration, Critical Thinking, Communication, and Creativity. For the 2025-2026 school year, parents will continue to notice an expanded magnet curriculum across our school. These additional areas will include the addition of a Project Lead the Way classroom, multimedia and robotics, and the continuation of design and 3D printing. We will also have a dedicated STEM coach who will assist in the integration of STEM in the general curriculum.
While we are a magnet school, we also continue to keep improved student achievement as our top priority. Students are taught reading and math strategies through large and small group instruction designed to help each child reach individual goals. Our goal is to increase the number of students who are meeting their typical and stretch growth on i-Ready, while also increasing the number of students who are meeting and exceeding standards on SC Ready.
At the heart of our mission is student ownership of learning. At Wellford Academy, students don’t just receive feedback—they use it. Through goal-setting conferences and regular check-ins, students work with their teachers to reflect on their progress and set meaningful academic and personal goals. This process helps them develop self-awareness, accountability, and perseverance—important life skills that support their long-term success.
At Wellford Academy, all of our staff are part of a community of learners. Our teachers, coaches, and administrators are meeting weekly in professional learning communities with an intentional focus on ensuring our students are college and career ready.
In cooperation with parents, students, and the community, Wellford Academy remains dedicated to taking a stand against bullying. Through the Olweus bullying program, students participate in weekly class meetings aimed at informing students about bullying and how to be an advocate for those being bullied.
The mission of Wellford Academy of Science and Technology is to promote the academic, social, and emotional growth of all children by providing quality educational opportunities in a safe, caring, and nurturing environment. The programs and activities we offer, such as reading and math intervention, fine arts activities, character education lessons, and gifted and talented classes help us to put our mission into action.
The community plays a vital role in helping Wellford Academy of Science and Technology educate our children. We are fortunate to have many involved parents, an active parent/teacher organization (PTO) and a dedicated school improvement council (SIC). Our faculty is proud of our accomplishments, and we thank all of our stakeholders for making this the most wonderful place to learn!
