Hendrix Elementary IB World School: Empowering Learners, Connecting Communities
At Hendrix Elementary IB World School, we take great pride in helping students grow into the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by providing a safe, nurturing, and academically rigorous learning environment. Our commitment to excellence shines not only within our local community but also across the globe through a dynamic blend of academic opportunities, arts integration, and community outreach.
Hendrix is honored to be the first school in Spartanburg School District Two recognized as an Arts in Basic Curriculum (ABC) School. This distinguished designation reflects our mission to deliver a well-rounded, comprehensive arts education for all students—encompassing dance, music, theatre, visual arts, and creative writing. Our school is also home to the award-winning Wildcat Junior Varsity and Varsity Dance Teams, proud two-time State Champions. Through education, the arts, and community connections, we strive to nurture creativity, foster connection, and inspire lifelong learning.
Our dedicated faculty and staff provide differentiated, student-centered instruction aligned with South Carolina state standards within the framework of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme. This globally recognized approach empowers students to become thoughtful, inquisitive, and compassionate citizens prepared to lead with empathy and excellence in an ever-changing world.
Hendrix’s strength lies in the partnerships we cultivate—locally and globally. Collaborations with faith-based organizations, small businesses, civic groups, corporations, universities, and international sister schools enrich our students’ experiences, deepen cultural understanding, and promote academic achievement. Through our 1:1 iPad initiative, we continue to personalize learning and effectively integrate technology to meet the diverse needs of every learner.
This year, our family and community engagement events reflected the heart of our school culture. From the 21st Century Community Learning Center (CCLC) and Positive Parenting Program (Triple P) Nights to Fine Arts Showcases, the Nemo Kids Musical, Book Talk Totes, and our signature 5th Grade IB Exhibition and Recognition Night, each event offered opportunities for families to gather, celebrate, and grow alongside their children. Our students also took meaningful steps in real-world problem solving—researching topics of personal interest and partnering with nonprofit organizations aligned to their causes, fostering a deeper understanding of informed action and service.
Beloved traditions such as Family Fiesta, Field Day, and the International Cherry Blossom Festival continued to unite our school community, creating lasting memories for students and families alike. We are especially proud of our 5th grade students and teachers for hosting a record-breaking IB Exhibition, a culminating event that beautifully showcased inquiry, leadership, and student-led action.
As we reflect on a remarkable year of growth, achievement, and connection, we remain deeply grateful for the support of our families, community partners, and staff. Together, we are shaping bright futures—one child, one experience, and one meaningful connection at a time.
