Carlisle-Foster’s Grove Elementary School (CFG) is guided by a fundamental belief: students are our top priority. This guiding principle shapes the foundation of our school culture, fostering a compassionate and supportive environment where every decision centers on the well-being and growth of our children. Our commitment to student success drives our instructional approach, aligning with the world-class skills and attributes outlined in the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate.
Teacher clarity, data-driven instruction with scaffolding, and student ownership serve as foundational instructional practices that shape the learning experience for every student. Educators communicate clear learning targets, design lessons with intentional supports, and foster an environment where students actively engage with rigorous academic content. By encouraging goal setting, self-monitoring, and reflection, students take responsibility for their progress and become confident, independent learners. These practices not only promote a culture of equity, high expectations, and continuous growth but also help students develop essential life and career characteristics such as self-direction, perseverance, and a strong work ethic—preparing them for success beyond the classroom.
Our Teaching and Learning Teams (TLTs) play a vital role in sustaining instructional excellence. During weekly collaborative meetings, teachers analyze student performance through common formative assessments, align instruction with academic standards, and plan targeted strategies to meet the unique needs of each learner. Differentiation is achieved through a variety of approaches, including personalized learning platforms, guided instruction, and tiered interventions. This structured collaboration ensures instruction remains responsive, cohesive, and impactful across all classrooms.
Beyond academics, CFG is dedicated to developing the whole child by offering a variety of enriching opportunities that support the development of world-class skills. Students have access to numerous activities and clubs that nurture their interests, talents, and leadership potential. For example, our Cub Singers showcase their musical abilities in captivating performances, such as Beauty and the Beast, while Gifted Art students explore creativity through challenging and meaningful artistic projects. Suzuki Strings provides focused instruction and ensemble experience to cultivate instrumental skills. Leadership and service are also fostered through participation in Beta Club and Student Council, where students take active roles in supporting school initiatives and community outreach. These programs contribute to a well-rounded school experience and help students grow in confidence, collaboration, and teamwork.
A strong culture of collective efficacy defines our community, rooted in the shared belief that every student can succeed. Educators, administrators, families, district leaders, and community members work together to build an inclusive, supportive school culture where high expectations are upheld and excellence is consistently pursued and achieved. Through ongoing collaboration, reflection, and adaptability, our school community remains committed to refining instructional practices to meet the diverse needs of all learners and promote their ongoing success.
Guided by our vision of One Heart, One Mind, One Team, we remain committed to our mission to empower and inspire students to become successful citizens, problem solvers, and lifelong learners within a safe and nurturing environment.
