At Brockman Elementary School, our students are cultivating the world-class skills and life and career characteristics outlined in the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate. As a public Montessori school of high fidelity, Brockman offers a learning environment where exploration, discovery, collaboration, and creative thinking are integral to daily instruction. Rooted in the Montessori philosophy, our approach emphasizes that children learn best in enriched, supportive settings that foster independence and responsibility.
Our dedicated staff includes highly qualified educators who hold Montessori certification. Brockman’s leadership team—comprising the principal, assistant principal, curriculum resource teacher, and reading coach—is also Montessori-endorsed. All classroom teachers serve as Montessori “guides,” observing and supporting students in ways that promote academic, emotional, and social development while honoring each child’s unique personality and interests.
Brockman students consistently demonstrate strong academic achievement. According to the 2024 South Carolina School Report Card, the school’s performance in academic achievement and student progress reflects our success in preparing students with world-class skills aligned with the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate.
Brockman has earned numerous distinctions, including the U.S. Department of Education’s National Blue Ribbon School Award in 2017, recognizing us as an exemplary high-performing school. We were also honored as a national Gold Award recipient by the Alliance for a Healthier Generation—the first school in South Carolina to receive this designation and one of only fourteen schools nationally. Additionally, Brockman is a certified Breathe Better School and a nationally recognized Let’s Move-Active Schools recipient.
We are deeply committed to promoting the health and well-being of our students and staff. Annual events, such as the PTO-sponsored FUNd Run, encourage students, parents, and staff to participate in 20 minutes of continuous running. Our Bears on Track after-school running club culminates in a community 5K, while our active 4-H Club maintains a school garden and explores the natural world. Brockman students also regularly participate in Richland One’s Fitness Bowl, which celebrates physical activity and wellness.
At Brockman, our mission is to support the academic and social growth of every child. We remain steadfast in our commitment to providing a strong Montessori foundation that empowers students to become independent thinkers, collaborative learners, and responsible citizens, preparing them for future success.
