RSES continues to ensure all students develop the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by providing a rich academic experience that encourages personal growth and develops habits that support a lifetime of learning and growing.
River Springs Elementary School offers an engaging and rigorous curriculum centered around student ownership, collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and creativity. Our teachers, with support from administration and our school’s Reading Coach, implemented our new reading curriculum and most of our school began their professional development in LETRS. Teachers collaborate daily during their 50 minute planning period and they all actively participate in professional development. We utilize the Professional Learning Community (PLC) process to identify targeted areas to support our students with common instructional strategies. Teachers monitor their students' progress to make sure all students are successful with each priority standard. All of these dedicated times help our teachers collaborate and create learning that develops critical thinking.
In addition to developing our students’ world class knowledge, River Springs Elementary students are guided towards developing world class skills. Students are given the opportunity to lead. We offer a variety of opportunities for our students such as, School Ambassadors, Classroom Helpers, News Crew, and Safety Patrol to assist school-wide.
This school year, our teachers and administrators continued to implement personalized learning to help increase student ownership and engagement. Through our study and implementation in our classrooms, students are empowered with student led learning experiences through intentional implementation.
“Working together to build the future” is our vision statement and a large part of what we do at River Springs Elementary is focused on skills that support a lifetime of learning and the building of life and career skills. At River Springs Elementary School, we develop these personal characteristics through our Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) initiative. Students are recognized for fulfilling our school GATOR Goals: Grow and learn each day, Achieve your personal best, Take responsibility for what you say and do, Offer to help others, and Respect everyone.
Part of our mission statement is, “all students become productive citizens of a global society and confident lifelong learners.” With the numerous opportunities afforded to our students at River Springs Elementary, it is evident our students are well on their way!
