The mission of Seven Oaks Elementary Global Magnet, with the support of our families and surrounding community, is to foster a safe, nurturing, and rigorous educational environment that develops caring, knowledgeable inquirers who possess a deep intercultural understanding in order to contribute to a more peaceful, collaborative world.
Our vision is to grow every student academically, socially, and emotionally. By living out our mission and vision daily, we are equipping all students with the world-class skills outlined in the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate.
Collaboration and Teamwork
Collaboration and teamwork remain foundational to the Seven Oaks experience. Our dedicated staff works closely to meet the individual needs of every student, ensuring their growth across academic and social domains. Teachers regularly collaborate in grade-level teams through PLCs and alongside our skilled Instructional Leadership Team in planned coaching to analyze standards and design impactful instruction. At least quarterly, grade-level teachers partner with Reading, Math, and Special Education service providers to review student progress and ensure access to the support and resources necessary for success. Across classrooms and throughout the school, students are encouraged to work together, build relationships, and contribute to a supportive school climate.
Field Experiences and Community Engagement
We believe that meaningful learning extends beyond the classroom. Throughout the year, students engage in a variety of field experiences that connect the South Carolina State Standards to the real world. Whether visiting the Riverbanks Zoo, exploring a pumpkin or strawberry patch, or watching classroom stories come alive at the Columbia Marionette Theatre or Koger Center, our students experience the joy of learning in dynamic ways.
On campus, a range of enriching activities, including in house field experiences, continue to foster a love of learning and community spirit. Highlights from this year included:

Integrated Related Arts events that connected academic content from Math, ELA, and Science to Music, Spanish, Art, and PE through engaging, hands-on activities. We will continue to expand on this practice as we begin to implement PYP-IB units beginning in the 2025-2026 school year.

Family Math and Reading Nights, where families played interactive games that can be used at home to reinforce learning in fun, accessible ways.

Classroom engagement opportunities for parents, grandparents, and caregivers to join students during the school day for shared reading and math games.

Learning Celebrations, where students’ academic achievements and positive behaviors were recognized and celebrated school-wide.
Global Mindset and Learning
As a proud Title I and PYP-IB candidacy school, we are committed to nurturing the academic, social, emotional, and physical development of all students. At Seven Oaks, cultural diversity is honored and embraced—we represent more than 25 nations, and this global perspective is a strength that enriches our entire learning community.
Through our Global Leadership Magnet and PYP-IB candidacy, students, teachers, and staff are encouraged to consider their roles within broader communities—from their neighborhoods to the global stage. Our inquiry-based approach organizes the South Carolina State Standards into thematic, interdisciplinary units that promote curiosity, global awareness, and real-world connections. These learning experiences are intentionally designed to prepare students for success in an interconnected and ever-evolving global society.
