At Rocky Creek Elementary School, we’re dedicated to cultivating world-class skills and vital life qualities in our students, aligning with the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate. Our goal is to develop students into self-directed learners, caring citizens and positive world-changers. Through this, our students acquire the outstanding knowledge and abilities that will make them proficient 21st-century graduates, fully prepared for their future academic and career paths.
Advanced Skills
At our school, we create a learning environment that truly helps students’ natural talents shine. All year long, we focus on helping them grow academically, think deeply and critically, solve tough problems, and work effectively in teams. Our students are truly becoming independent learners, ready to tackle challenges and figure things out on their own. They are developing the advanced skills they will need to succeed.
Comprehensive Knowledge
Our core instructional model for both English language arts and math is a workshop-based approach. We use a tailored instruction approach that addresses diverse learning styles, ensuring every student receives personalized guidance and engaging experiences. Through a blend of digital resources, small-group lessons, guided practice and individual learning tasks, we encourage students to strive for excellence and build a strong foundation in these core subjects.
Life and Career Attributes
The elementary years are pivotal for your child’s future, laying the groundwork for academic achievement and, ultimately, college- and career-readiness. Beyond the classroom, we’re dedicated to cultivating active citizenship and a lifelong thirst for knowledge. In response to the evolving complexities of the modern world and the demands of the 21st-century job market, our school is committed to inspiring and empowering all students to shape their personal characteristics in alignment with the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate, ensuring they are well-prepared for their lives and careers ahead.
Achievements and Acknowledgments
What a fantastic year it’s been at RCES, filled with incredible achievements that directly benefit your children! We’re thrilled to share some highlights that show how our dedicated staff, supportive parents and community partners are working together to create a thriving learning environment.
Recognizing Our Outstanding Staff
We’re incredibly proud of the talented individuals who make RCES exceptional. Jennifer Ringo, a wonderful third-grade teacher, was named RCES Teacher of the Year, then recognized as one of the top ten finalists in the district, a truly remarkable accomplishment. Additionally, Sandra Ewing, our student data specialist, was honored as RCES Support Staff of the Year for her invaluable contributions behind the scenes. Many of our dedicated coaches and educators successfully secured grants this year, providing exciting new resources and opportunities to enhance their work with students.
Making a Difference in Our Community
RCES is committed to nurturing well-rounded students who understand the importance of giving back. This year, our school actively supported vital initiatives such as Relay For Life, Harvest Hope Food Bank and Harvest Hope Snack Packs, Jump Rope for Heart, and the Unified Schools Program. These efforts not only benefit our community but also teach our students valuable lessons about empathy and service.
The Power of Our Parent-Teacher Organization
Our amazing PTO has been instrumental in enriching the school experience for every student and teacher. Their tireless efforts and generous contributions supported numerous projects, including the Ranger Run, Field Day, successful fundraising drives, special staff appreciation days, exciting field trips, essential volunteer programs and providing crucial back-to-school supplies. The PTO’s dedication and hard work have truly enhanced our school community and provided valuable resources that directly benefit your child’s education.
Our Collaborative School Improvement Council
A huge thank you goes to our SIC, which plays a vital role in planning schoolwide enhancements and strengthening communication between the SIC, RCES families and the wider community. This year, the council focused on organizing a Family Reading Night to highlight the importance of reading beyond the school day. Their commitment ensures that RCES continues to grow and improve for all students.
