Brunson Elementary School is fully committed to helping students develop the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate. Our mission is to provide opportunities for every student to succeed by fostering personal, imaginative, and expressive skills. Through a curriculum rich in creativity and exploration, students gain self-assurance, a strong sense of belonging, and the ability to become creators, lifelong appreciators of the arts, and seekers of knowledge.
Thanks to various grants and community partnerships, our students benefit from opportunities beyond the traditional elementary curriculum. These funds have supported artists-in-residence programs and enhanced current school initiatives. In December, our drama club presented the theatrical production Rudolph Rides Again, followed by our dessert theater performance of Oh, Pandora in March. Our art program has also been strengthened through the support of Mr. Jack Hutto and the CARE Project, which promotes the arts in rural communities.
A key factor in Brunson Elementary’s success is the dedication of our hardworking staff and the strong support of families and community partners. With this support, we partnered with the MUSC Boeing Center for Children’s Wellness and the Clemson Extension Service to complete a School Wellness Checklist, earning our school a $1,000 award. Students also participated in a variety of engaging programs, including Fire Safety Day with the Brunson Fire Department, Red Ribbon Week activities, and Read Across America Week, where they celebrated Dr. Seuss’ birthday. In April, our art students proudly submitted entries to the Hampton County Soil & Water Conservation District poster contest.
At Brunson Elementary, our ultimate goal is to prepare students not only for future careers but also for success in life. Through our school-wide practice of Conscious Discipline, we emphasize relationship building and teaching missing skills to both students and adults. We strive to cultivate creativity, teamwork, perseverance, self-direction, and resilience—qualities that define every Brunson Elementary Warrior.
