At Chandler Creek Elementary, we are committed to empowering students with the world-class skills and life and career characteristics outlined in the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate. Our school fosters a nurturing, safe, and academically rigorous environment that encourages every learner to thrive. Guided by our mission, we seek to grow students into leaders, learners, and compassionate citizens who positively impact our school and greater community.
This year marked our second year of Club Days at The Creek, an initiative that continues to spark enthusiasm and engagement among students in grades 4K through 5th. Once a month, students participated in a club of their choice - ranging from art and technology to gardening and service - led by staff members during the school day. This inclusive opportunity removed transportation barriers and built community among students and staff alike. We also continued meaningful traditions like the Senior Walk, welcoming back high school graduates who began their journey at Chandler Creek, and celebrated our fifth graders with a Clap Out, Fifth Grade Day, and an Awards Ceremony to honor their transition to middle school.
Chandler Creek was once again named a Capturing Kids’ Hearts (CKH) National Showcase School, earning this distinction for the fifth consecutive year. CKH National Showcase recognition celebrates campuses where educators exceed expectations and create environments where students feel safe, connected, and eager to learn. CKH principles remain embedded in our culture. Our WCCE News Show highlighted character themes such as respect, perseverance, and gratitude. Students who exemplified these traits were honored with the “Spirit of a Champion” award, while dedicated staff were recognized by their peers through “Heart of a Champion” celebrations going above and beyond to support the holistic needs of our learners.
Academically, we continued to emphasize growth and mastery through the use of the workshop model in both reading and math. This approach allowed for tailored instruction, where teachers delivered targeted whole-group lessons followed by small-group work based on student needs. Benchmarks administered throughout the year informed tiered intervention strategies in both math and reading, offered during and after school. Our teachers enhanced their instructional expertise through participation in state and regional conferences, as well as professional development at the district and school level, bringing best practices and innovative strategies into their classrooms.
Family and community partnerships remained a cornerstone of our school culture. We welcomed families into the building for events like Meet the Teacher, our first ever “Book Parade” spring event, which we hope has started a new tradition, Boo! Night at the Creek, and our annual Veterans Day Program. We also celebrated the success of another student/staff talent show, which returned by popular demand. Grade-level music performances and fundraising efforts for organizations such as United Way and March of Dimes further showcased our commitment to service and engagement.
As we reflect on the 2024-25 school year, Chandler Creek Elementary remains steadfast in our goal of being a school that not only educates students academically, but also instills character, leadership, and a sense of community. Through real-world learning experiences and inclusive opportunities, our students continue to grow into the graduates South Carolina envisions - prepared for the future, grounded in compassion, and ready to lead.
