Our school is helping all students develop the world class skills and life and career characteristics of the Profile of the Graduate by providing a challenging learning environment infused with a project-based curriculum. Our motto reflects the vision of our school – "Leaders Changing the World."
Our focus for Summit Drive Elementary is a School of Leadership and Entrepreneurial Design. By utilizing the entrepreneurial mindsets teachers provide opportunities to apply these skills to real world opportunities. Students recognize their own unique talents, explore new ideas and identify improvements, collaborate with others and communicate effectively. Our teachers embed leadership principles with project based learning into our curriculum standards. Students reflect on problems both local and global, researching possible solutions through experimentation, and communicating new ideas.
Parental and community involvement is essential for our continued success. The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and School Improvement Council (SIC) are actively involved in our decision making. Our PTA and staff share the same vision by providing our students with the necessary tools and support for success. We have collaboratively funded technology in the classrooms, an Interactive Design Lab and an active Lego Robotics Team as well as Girls on the Run. Summit Drive Elementary is recognized by the American Heart Association as a Top Earning School.
Summit Drive Elementary has added a two-story wing that added 20 additional classrooms including a multi-purpose room and a Makery for students to design prototypes. All classrooms are fully equipped with Interactive Boards and student chromebooks. Grade level teachers meet weekly to collaboratively develop lesson plans and common assessments. Test data is analyzed by teachers and administration for the purpose of student achievement. We are proud of our strong school community and rich traditions at Summit Drive. It is our mission to provide our students with a safe and caring learning environment that will prepare them for a successful future.
