At Monaview Elementary, we embrace the belief that every student can learn, celebrating our diverse backgrounds and cultures. Our commitment to this philosophy is encapsulated in our slogan, "Juntos Podemos" - "Together we can" - which has guided our efforts for the past two years. We've adopted this motto to instill in all our students, families, and staff a sense of unity and purpose. This collaborative spirit is further reinforced through our innovative house system, where students across all grade levels work together, helping each other make good decisions and collaborating for the greater good of their house and Monaview as a whole.
Many of our students come from families where English is a secondary language at home. Despite this challenge, our dedicated teachers and staff work hand in hand with parents and students to achieve academic excellence that consistently exceeds expectations. The Monaview team is highly trained in strategies to support our multilingual learners, implementing an innovative approach that combines co-teaching and pull-out services to provide students with the individualized support they need to thrive in the classroom.
Our commitment to inclusive, high-quality education has yielded impressive results. For four consecutive years, Monaview has received excellent or good ratings on our report cards. This consistent achievement is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire school community. Furthermore, all teachers and staff at Monaview have undergone LTRS (Language and Literacy Reading Standards) training, with the majority completing this two-year state mandate. LTRS focuses on the Science of Reading, emphasizing how the brain processes letters and sounds to read, ensuring our educators are equipped with the latest research-based strategies to support our students' literacy development.
At Monaview, we believe it's crucial to acknowledge and celebrate our students' and their families' diverse cultures. We host numerous culturally relevant events throughout the school year, such as the Hispanic Heritage Festival, fostering a sense of pride and community among our families. Additionally, we employ staff fluent in Spanish to better communicate with and support our Spanish-speaking families. As we look ahead, we remain committed to our innovative approaches and inclusive philosophy. We will continue to adapt and improve our strategies to meet the evolving needs of our diverse student body, proving every day that with understanding, dedication, and collaboration, together we can indeed achieve remarkable things.
