East North Street Academy of Mathematics and Science (ENSA) is committed to helping all students develop the life and career characteristics outlined in the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate. We do this by enriching academic experiences and integrating science and mathematics into every aspect of our school culture.
Our campus includes two state-of-the-art science labs. One lab provides hands-on, creative learning opportunities where students design, experiment, build, and invent using the science concepts taught in their classrooms. The second, our life science lab, houses a variety of live animals that support instruction about life cycles and habitats. We also offer two outdoor classrooms, where students can study plants and animals, conduct experiments, and explore gardening techniques. Across all content areas, students engage in Project-Based Learning and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) activities, providing rich, cross-curricular opportunities to explore and apply learning in meaningful ways.
Beyond academics, ENSA offers a robust array of enrichment opportunities. Students select one of over 25 school-sponsored clubs to participate in, and students in grades 4 and 5 may join our Chorus. Our comprehensive counseling program supports character development and career awareness. All students take part in either our annual Career Day or Careers on Wheels, which highlights the 16 Career Clusters identified in Greenville County Schools' G Plus initiative.
We meet and exceed state and federal expectations through rigorous implementation of South Carolina state standards and assessments, led by a team of highly qualified and dedicated teachers. Ongoing professional development is differentiated through the support of both an instructional coach and literacy coach, ensuring we meet the unique instructional needs of each teacher. Teachers regularly analyze multiple data points to individualize instruction for every student.
ENSA’s success is rooted in the support of our strong school community. Our PTA and School Improvement Council (SIC) collaborate with families, local businesses, and neighborhood partners. Our longstanding partnership with Michelin as part of The Michelin Challenge Education initiative supports a variety of programs supported by Michelin volunteers including mentoring, tutoring, Girls Loving Science, Challenge Math, and Challenge Reading.
Through the collective efforts of our staff, students, families, and community partners, East North Street Academy remains a place “Where Inquiry and Achievement All Add Up.”
