Sue Cleveland Elementary develops the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate through student-centered, engaging learning experiences in a safe and nurturing environment. As an arts integration school, we intentionally connect the arts with core academic content to deepen student understanding, foster creativity, and increase engagement across all subject areas. The faculty and staff of Sue Cleveland Elementary strive to develop and maintain a positive learning environment and have high expectations for all students. Data-driven, standards-based instruction occurs in all grade levels during uninterrupted blocks of instructional time. We focus on meeting the social, emotional, and academic needs of all students and creating a strong positive school community. Our staff uses research-based strategies to nurture a sense of belonging, significance, and emotional safety, ensuring that students feel comfortable taking risks, expressing themselves creatively, and working with a variety of peers.
In order to develop the whole child, students at Sue Cleveland Elementary have numerous opportunities to participate in meaningful activities that reinforce academic standards, promote strong leadership skills, and encourage artistic expression. As an Arts Integration school, students engage in learning experiences that blend the arts with academic content, helping them make meaningful connections and demonstrate their understanding in innovative ways. Some of these opportunities include Broadcast Team, Chorus, STEM Club, Student Ambassadors, Art Club, and Safety Patrol. In partnership with parents, community, business partners, and stakeholders, the staff of Sue Cleveland Elementary provides all students with challenging educational experiences. We share many community events including our annual Color Run, Donuts with Grown-Ups, Kids Invite Someone Special, Literacy Night, Math Night, Career Day, Talent Show, Student Recognition Programs, Choral Productions, and arts-focused showcases that celebrate student learning and creativity.
The SCE PTA provides ongoing support through mini-grants, classroom donations, and volunteerism. Our PTA Board recognizes the importance of parental involvement and works tirelessly to recruit and involve parents in a variety of settings and activities. Effectively utilizing the skills, talents, and training of our parents and volunteers further extends our total program effectiveness. Through strong partnerships with families and the community, we support our mission as an Arts Integration school by providing enriching experiences that inspire creativity, collaboration, communication, and critical thinking. The entire Sue Cleveland family works together for the success of our students as we strive to inspire leadership one child at a time.
