• Leader in Me: A leadership development program rooted in the 7 Habits, empowering students to lead themselves and others.

• High-Quality Core Curriculum: Standards-aligned instruction in reading, math, science, and social studies, supported by pacing guides and evidence-based practices.

• Technology-Enhanced Classrooms: All classrooms are equipped with mobile interactive boards to promote engagement and digital literacy.

• Specialized Support Services: We provide services for gifted and talented students, English Language Learners, students with special needs, and those requiring social-emotional or behavioral supports through MTSS.

Targeted Academic Interventions

Recognizing that every learner has unique needs, we offer structured, data-driven intervention programs:

• Read Naturally Live: A web-based fluency and comprehension intervention for struggling readers.

• Accelerated Reader (AR): A supplemental program that motivates and monitors independent reading through personalized goals.

• Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS): Academic and behavioral interventions tailored to students’ specific needs.

• Small Group Instruction: Targeted instruction delivered during designated intervention blocks ensures students receive timely and focused support.

Enrichment and Extracurricular Activities

Main Street Elementary provides students with engaging opportunities beyond the classroom to explore their interests and talents:

• A wide variety of clubs, including recreation and enrichment options, band, cheerleading, praise dancing, step team, and mentor/mentee programs.

• Our Original Six Afterschool Program, which offers academic support, enrichment activities, and a safe, structured environment after school hours.

Innovative Instructional Strategies

• Ready Curriculum: A rigorous resource designed to build deep understanding of SC Academic Standards through inquiry and problem-solving.

• Dedicated Intervention Time: Our master schedule includes intervention periods for each grade level to ensure every student receives the support they need without disrupting core instruction.

• Instructional Coaches and PLCs: Teachers work closely with subject-specific instructional coaches and participate in Professional Learning Communities to align instruction, share best practices, and create Common Formative Assessments (CFAs).

Data-Informed Teaching

We monitor student progress regularly through assessments such as MAP, TE21, and DRA. Data from these tools guide instructional decisions, small group placements, and timely interventions, ensuring that instruction is personalized and effective.

Leadership Development

Now in our sixth year as a Leader in Me school, Main Street fosters student empowerment through leadership roles such as safety patrol, flag squad, morning show crew, and school ambassadors. Our efforts were nationally recognized in March 2023 with Lighthouse Certification, celebrating our commitment to cultivating young leaders.

Positive School Culture through PBIS

Our school-wide expectations—Be Ready, Be Responsible, Be a Leader—anchor our Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework. Combined with our academic and behavioral MTSS system, PBIS helps maintain a safe, respectful, and encouraging learning environment.
