The theme for the 2024-2025 school year, SIMPLY THE BEST, reflects our commitment to prioritizing what is best for students and stakeholders. We remain dedicated to addressing students' learning and social-emotional needs. Everyone in our school community plays a vital role in fostering a positive, caring, and productive educational environment for the children we serve. Our goal is to highlight innovative practices that ensure students learn and appreciate their learning experiences through engaging, creative, and rigorous approaches.
The mission of Fairfield Magnet School for Math and Science is to equip students with the academic, emotional, and social tools they need to face future challenges by providing a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment. We are committed to helping students develop the world-class skills and life and career characteristics outlined in the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate. Through rigorous instruction and innovative, hands-on learning experiences, we strive to cultivate critical thinking, effective communication, collaboration, and creativity. Ultimately, our goal is to support students on their path to achieving excellence in high school, the workforce, the military, and/or college graduation and to prepare them to become successful and contributing members of society.
Our STEAM focus offers a dynamic curriculum that encourages all students to think critically and creatively, collaborate effectively, and develop strong interpersonal skills. Many projects are web-based, providing students with opportunities to engage with real-world challenges through innovative problem-solving. Signature programs, such as the Arts Extravaganza, March Math Madness Day, Math Round-Up, blended learning in art classes, and the Math Bowl, are designed to foster analytical thinking and enhance the STEAM experience.
Our school is proud to be recognized both statewide and nationally for outstanding student achievement, particularly in closing the academic achievement gap. Our art students continue to excel, consistently earning state and national honors. Recent accomplishments include winning the 2024 NAGYN National Drawing Contest, securing 1st place in the 2024 National Youth Advocacy and Resilience competition, and earning top recognition in the 2024 Attorney General's 20th Annual Project Safe Neighborhood Art Contest.
We eagerly anticipate the 2025–2026 school year as we continue to nurture young minds, with a strong emphasis on academics and the arts, to foster success at every level. The FMSMS family remains dedicated to empowering our students with the belief that they are brilliant and capable of achieving excellence in everything they pursue.
