Fairfield Elementary School is dedicated to helping all students develop the World Class Skills outlined in the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by providing a safe, nurturing, and academically challenging learning environment. This year, our theme, “Everyone is an important piece of the puzzle,” served as a powerful reminder that our success depends on the collaboration of students, parents, faculty, and staff. Every member of our school community plays a vital role in supporting the growth and achievement of our students.
We challenge all students with rigorous and authentic learning experiences to help them reach their highest potential. Our teachers design engaging lessons using the gradual release model, integrate subject areas, and differentiate instruction based on data to meet the individual needs of each learner. Strong relationships with students and families are at the heart of our work, ensuring instruction is relevant, meaningful, and personalized. In addition, the use of modern technology such as interactive whiteboards, 1:1 Chromebooks, and Google Applications enhances teaching and learning throughout the school day.
To ensure progress and academic growth, students are assessed using a variety of formal and informal tools, including SC Ready, i-Ready Reading and Math, the Kindergarten Readiness Assessment (KRA), GOLD, Dial 4, and MasteryConnect benchmarks. Regardless of ability level, every student is given differentiated support, encouragement, and opportunities to succeed. During the 2024–2025 school year, reading interventions were implemented in grades K–6th by both classroom teachers and a reading interventionist, further demonstrating our commitment to literacy achievement.
Fairfield Elementary also places great emphasis on developing the whole child. Through programs like Extra Mile Club, Girls in Pearls, monthly Club Days, and various award programs, students have the opportunity to explore interests, build character, and develop social skills. Club Day, held monthly, allows students to choose from a variety of interest-based clubs, interact with peers from different grade levels, and build connections with other staff members, reinforcing the belief that every piece of the puzzle matters.
Our implementation of PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) promotes a positive school culture, encouraging students to demonstrate respect, responsibility, and readiness to learn. Teachers integrate life skills, community-building activities, and social-emotional learning (SEL) into daily instruction to support students’ overall well-being.
