McCrorey-Liston School of Technology (MLST) continues to prepare all students to develop the world-class skills and career-ready characteristics outlined in the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by providing a safe, nurturing, and academically engaging environment. Through a rigorous curriculum and meaningful partnerships with families and the broader community, MLST remains committed to its vision to “soar above all expectations” and to cultivating a strong sense of school pride and connection.
The 2024–2025 school year at MLST was a year filled with impactful activities and achievements that reflected the school’s ongoing dedication to excellence and community engagement.
Early in the year, students and staff joined together for the Kids Heart Challenge, raising funds for heart health awareness and research. This initiative promoted wellness while also teaching empathy, compassion, and the value of civic responsibility.
Literacy remained a cornerstone of the school year, as MLST's youngest scholars hosted an engaging Literacy Day Readers Theatre. Students and staff performed dramatic readings, bringing literature to life and reinforcing the importance of reading fluency, comprehension, and expression.
Family and community engagement were on full display during Bring Your Grand to School Day, celebrated in conjunction with the Scholastic Book Fair. This heartwarming event strengthened intergenerational connections and gave families the opportunity to support literacy by purchasing books and participating in classroom activities.
MLST’s School Improvement Council (SIC) sponsored quarterly Reading Celebrations, recognizing students who met their reading goals. These events inspired students to embrace reading and nurtured a school-wide culture of literacy and academic excellence.
MLST was proud to be recognized once again as a National Beta School of Merit, underscoring the school’s unwavering commitment to academic success, leadership, and character development. This year, MLST’s Junior Beta Club went a step further by competing at the state level, showcasing their talents and achievements on a broader platform and demonstrating excellence in areas such as academics, service, and creativity. Additionally, he spirit of service was alive and well as Jr. Beta Club members organized a successful food drive, helping to support families in need and teaching students the importance of generosity and community care.
To support college and career readiness, MLST introduced AVID Family Projects, engaging scholars and their families in meaningful activities designed to explore college options and future career paths. These projects not only built awareness and aspiration but also encouraged goal-setting and planning for long-term academic success.
