Jefferson Elementary School is helping all students develop the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by providing a safe, caring, and academically challenging learning environment.  We provide such an environment through implementation of our school mission: “to stay safe, love to learn, and grow into kind and responsible people."  We demonstrate this vision by challenging our students to become life-long learners and positive contributors to their communities and the world. We provide them with rigorous instruction and high expectations.  We strive to keep our staff abreast of the best research-proven instructional strategies through continuous professional development.  Our teachers strive to seek and learn new and effective strategies to use in the classroom such as: differentiated instruction, best practices, MTSS, reading and math, small group reading and math instruction, interactive and shared reading practices, reading and writing workshops, and support from  Early Interventionists, and Literacy Coach.  Our instructional practices are based on the most current student data, teacher observations, and analyzing student work.  Our instruction is founded on growing students daily and taking them from where they are to their full potential.  At Jefferson Elementary, we also have various programs outside the academic world to focus on the development of the whole child.  Throughout the school year, we focus on character and career education through our guidance classes. Students are exposed to character and career education through career day, anti-bullying opportunities, following the “Blue Jay Way” Challenges, and guidance lessons.  Students also participate in and raise money for many organizations such as Relay for Life.  

At Jefferson Elementary, family, school, and community share in the educational development of our children. With support, we will continue to develop our future South Carolina graduates and world leaders!
