Sanders-Clyde Creative Arts Elementary is a Title I school serving a high-poverty, urban community where many students face barriers that extend beyond the classroom. Despite the challenges that often accompany poverty-such as limited access to resources, food insecurity, and trauma, our school continues to defy the odds and excel in academic areas that matter most.
Each academic year, student performance in English Language Arts and mathematics continues to increase. These gains are not coincidental, but the result of intentional strategies and a relentless focus on instructional excellence. The social-emotional well-being of our scholars has also shown marked improvement, contributing to a more positive and responsive school climate. Our students believe in themselves and their abilities, and this confidence is reflected in both their academic achievement and positive behavior.
At Sanders-Clyde, we are deeply committed to creating an environment where every scholar, teacher, staff member, volunteer, and visitor feels valued, welcomed, and safe. From the moment they walk through our doors, they are met with love, kindness, warm greetings, and the attention they deserve. Our school is a place where high expectations for teaching, learning, and behavior are evident daily, and where everyone knows they matter.
At the heart of our success is a school-wide commitment to building teacher capacity through unwavering support. We ensure that teachers have the resources and guidance needed to deliver effective instruction, accurately analyze student data, and respond with intention and precision. Through coaching, collaboration, and continuous professional development, educators at Sanders-Clyde are developing the knowledge and skills required to become even stronger in their craft-lifelong learners dedicated to excellence in a profession that shapes futures.
Our focus remains on uninterrupted, Tier 1 standards-based instruction that is both rigorous and engaging, aligned with the South Carolina College and Career Ready Standards. Teachers use data to closely monitor progress and make real-time instructional adjustments to meet the diverse needs of our scholars.
We remain grounded in the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate, ensuring our scholars are prepared not only for the next grade level but for a successful future beyond our walls.
Our milestones are not the result of individual efforts but rather a testament to the power of teamwork, collective work, and shared responsibility. It takes educators, district and school support staff, parents, community volunteers, and business partners. Together, we have accomplished what many believed could not be done at “The Clyde.” Together, we will continue to rise. “Game on- challenge accepted!”
