Greenwood School District 52 remains dedicated to preparing all students with world-class skills and essential life characteristics to ensure they are college and career-ready, aligning with the South Carolina Profile of the Graduate. Thanks to the unwavering dedication of our district’s world-class teachers, faculty, and staff, we impact students’ lives each day.
A significant highlight of the year was the official opening of the Ninety Six Wildcats Multiplex in August. The renovation has transformed the old Ninety Six High School into a state-of-the-art facility for our athletics programs and state-champion marching band. The Multiplex has also provided our district with additional office space and professional development areas for staff training. Recently, we developed a policy for organizations to rent the facility for community use.
We look forward to working with our community to enhance future opportunities for students and staff at the Multiplex.
Another source of immense pride was the Ninety Six High School Wildcat Marching Band, securing yet another state championship title in October under the leadership of Director David Vickery. The band earned top honors in music, visual performance, and overall effect, reinforcing its reputation for excellence. With this latest victory—their 12th state championship—the Wildcat Marching Band continues to hold the record for the most 1A State Championships in South Carolina history. This achievement reflects the hard work and talent of Mr. Vickery and his dedicated students.
Our district also celebrated strong 2024 State School Report Card ratings, with one school earning an Excellent rating and two schools receiving a Good rating. These results reflect our steadfast commitment to equipping teachers with the resources they need to make a lasting impact on student success.
Academically, our district has maintained a long-standing tradition of exceptional performance on state assessments and end-of-course testing. Our students continue to achieve outstanding results across all grade levels, demonstrating the dedication of both our learners and educators.
According to a South Carolina Department of Education press release, our district outperformed the state’s proficiency target with 76% of students in Grade 4 meeting or exceeding standards in Math. Our district was also highlighted in the state’s press release for significantly improving ELA and Math from 2019 to 2024. We are incredibly proud of our teachers’ and students' hard work and look forward to continued success.
Looking ahead, we remain steadfast in our mission to provide high-quality education that empowers students to achieve their goals and dreams. We will continue to foster strong relationships with our community stakeholders as we build on the momentum of our district’s progress.
Together, we are shaping a district that stands as a model of educational excellence—one that we can all be proud of!
