Chesterfield County School District is dedicated to helping all students develop the world-class skills and life and career characteristics outlined in the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate. We provide diverse learning opportunities that support the development of both academic and social-emotional skills essential for future success.
We hold high expectations in academics, the arts, and athletics, and our students continue to excel in all areas—gaining valuable tools to become college and career ready. Our 16 schools are committed to continuous improvement through ongoing professional development for all staff.
A strong foundation begins early, and our district supports this with 14 CERDEP classrooms across the county. All K–8 schools employ full-time literacy coaches who offer professional development and instructional support to strengthen literacy instruction. In addition, the RISE and RISE Up intervention models have been successfully implemented to address individual student needs.
Vertical collaboration among schools ensures smooth transitions between grade levels and schools, reinforcing our commitment to student success at every stage. We also work closely with Northeastern Technical College and USC-Lancaster to offer dual credit opportunities, enabling high school students to earn college credits while still in school.
Our Career and Technology Education (CTE) programs provide students with hands-on learning and career preparation, with many graduates earning CTE Completer status. Our four high schools awarded over $9 million in scholarships, including Palmetto Fellows, LIFE, and Teaching Fellows awards.
As a 1:1 technology district for students in grades 3–12, we integrate digital learning across classrooms. Technology specialists support teachers with professional development to enhance instruction and student engagement.
Beyond the classroom, we offer a wide range of extracurricular activities that foster teamwork, leadership, and a strong work ethic. As an ABC (Arts in Basic Curriculum) District, we emphasize arts education and offer additional programs such as athletics, clubs, band, chorus, and service learning. Our schools actively engage with the community through initiatives like Relay for Life, March of Dimes, blood drives, Adopt-a-Highway, and United Way projects—helping students grow into responsible, empathetic citizens.
Though we celebrate a successful year, we remain focused on continuous improvement. Chesterfield County School District will continue striving for excellence in every aspect of education. We are proud to say—CCS Ready!
