Welcome to Bettis Preparatory Leadership Academy, a K-8 public STEM Title I charter school dedicated to cultivating world-class skills in all our students. Our mission is to foster a safe, caring, and academically rigorous environment with an integrated STEM focus. At Bettis Prep, we embody our vision as a nurturing learning community where we unite to equip students with creative leadership, compassionate competitiveness, and a commitment to societal betterment.
We uphold this vision through evidence-based best practices that cater to the holistic development and future success of every child. Our commitment to excellence is reflected in our weekly Professional Learning Communities, where teachers collaborate to address academic needs, behavioral concerns, and refine instructional practices. Our dedicated faculty and staff are lifelong learners, continuously enhancing their professional development.
Instruction is enhanced using resources such as IXL, Study Island, and school-wide STEM projects and initiatives, providing students with numerous opportunities for collaborative leadership learning across flexible schedules. To monitor progress, we use NWEA MAP three times per school year, weekly and bi-weekly Study Island assessments, and quarterly benchmark assessments tailored to each subject area.
Our Student Services department focuses on Social Emotional Learning, partnering with established mentoring and tutoring programs to support students from grades 1 through 8. We also collaborate with our local high school teacher cadet program, offering seniors valuable classroom experience alongside our teachers.
At Bettis Prep, family and community involvement are vital. We actively engage parents and community members through our volunteer program, PTO, and events like Grits for Grands, Pink Out Day, Parent University, and STEM Night. Partnerships with local businesses and organizations, including Generac, Simmons Lodge 3A, Trenton Correctional Institute, Mrs. Blanton & Mrs. DeFoor, Self-Regional, and SRNL further enrich our students' educational experience.
This year has been marked by significant achievements, thanks to the dedication of our students, faculty, staff, parents, and community supporters. As a unified school community, we eagerly anticipate the future and value ongoing collaboration with all stakeholders.
