Jonesville Elementary Middle School is a 4K through 8th grade school that strives to provide support to ensure that all students are successful and college-and-career ready. As Jonesville Wildcats, we take pride in providing a safe, caring, and academically challenging learning environment in which students collaborate, communicate, and think critically. Program offerings and expectations for students embody this purpose. Our school mission: "One Mission, One Family: To create the best quality education for all students" permeates the environment as we put students first in all that we do. School educators continue to research and work to provide opportunities that enable learners to integrate technology, collaborate, and think creatively in their daily routine. Through actively seeking research based and effective strategies, we are equipped with resources to utilize in the classroom to promote World Class Skills. These strategies include small group reading and math instruction, structured literacy, inquiry-based instruction, differentiation, and integration of technology in all content areas. Additionally, our middle school students are offered honors courses, computer science & digital literacy, Financial Literacy, ProTeam, and athletics.
At Jonesville Elementary Middle School, various programs are offered beyond the classroom to aid in growing our Wildcats. The Response to Intervention/MTSS process provides opportunities for struggling learners to receive extra support in reading and math instruction throughout the school year. The Original Six Foundation After School Program for second through fifth grade provides academic support and tutoring for students. Students received additional tutoring through our AAA tutoring program offered through our district. Our Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS) program encourages students to make good choices, promotes character development, and enhances life and career characteristics. Through this program, students are rewarded for possessing such characteristics as integrity, perseverance, self-direction, honesty, and a strong work ethic as outlined in the Profile of the SC Graduate. Our partnership with Kona Ice also supports our PBIS initiatives. Students are also provided enrichment opportunities throughout the year. These opportunities include Emerge, remediation & enrichment camps throughout the year, Battle of the Books, JEMS News Team, Safety Patrol, Student Council, Fit2Gether Change Agents, and band.
Our school is proud of the involvement of our stakeholders through active participation in School Improvement Council and Title 1 which is another facet of increasing student achievement. The Superintendent, School Board Members, and other members of the community collaborate several times each year to discuss strengths and areas of improvement for our school and the entire learning community. Through their support, we can provide parent/student workshops and resources for our learning community throughout the year. Another focus of increasing student achievement includes involving parents and community members in sharing and enhancing this mission and vision of our school. Title 1 Family Engagement and Parenting Programs are offered quarterly throughout the year.
At JEMS, the importance of working together as a family to meet the needs of our students is significantly valued. "Students First" is our motto at Jonesville Elementary/Middle School. Through continued professional growth, our highly effective teachers maintain high expectations for all students. As a result, student achievement will flourish. We are so grateful for the continuous support in the development of our future South Carolina graduates and world class leaders!
